Owner description: Changing Tide Tours has had over 7,500 guests tour the Golfo Dulce with us during the past eight years. We are proud of the fact that, in addition to being the longest operating tour boat provider on the OSA, we are also known as the ‘Premium Tour’ on the Gulf. That's because our custom-built tour boats are safe, comfortable and well equipped; and they are always manned by a professional, licensed Captain and English speaking Guide team. Changing Tide Tours finds the dolphins over 90% of the time. Come with us and enjoy a fun, informative, 25+ mile guided tour as the Golfo Dulce (‘Sweet Gulf’) serves up its many “magical” wonders. Whales, Dolphins, Manta Rays, Whale Sharks, Sea Turtles, numerous Fish, and Sea Birds—all these have been seen by our guests. Our tour boats are equipped with quiet, eco-friendly four stroke motors, contoured seats and a full-canopy sun top for your comfort and protection. After a short crossing, you will experience the Gulf’s lush, rugged Eastern Shore, up close and personal to "one of the world’s three tropical fjords." Along with your Dolphin Cruise and informative eco- tour, your crew will offer Swimming, Snorkeling and Plane Boarding when and where conditions permit. And when you return to the boat, you can enjoy a fresh water rinse and fresh fruit. Tour is 4-5 hours.

“Dolphins and turtles”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

A great day on the calm water of the Golfo Dulce with Josh as our guide. We saw two types of dolphins (one group of the smaller ones with at least 50!!) and Ridley turtles.

“Wow! Highly recommended.”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

This tour company was recommended to us by a family who had traveled with them and met us up in Alajuela. I was able to find an email address and reach out to them before we reached Puerto Jimenez, and got an immediate response from Mary Ann. I am so glad I did! Our family of four, including kids ages 8 & 11, had a great time. We were picked up at the dock right on time (8 am) by the crew, and set off right away as the only people on the boat. The boat itself was comfortable, with a fixed top to keep the sun/heat off and fixed seats that the guide kept wiping to ensure they were not filled with water when we sat. This boat is unique, at least that I saw, in that it had two seats perched at the front of the boat and overwater. This means that two passengers can be strapped in and enjoy the view from over the water as the boat travels, which is great for viewing the wildlife, but also fun. Josh, the guide, was very knowledgeable, and our first stop was in the mangroves, where we saw several birds that he identified as well as were introduced to the haunting sounds of toucans. We learned a lot about the environment of the mangrove forest as well as the gulf and tides on this trip. Our next destination was over near the refuge on the other side of the Golfo Dulce. This was where we encountered the dolphins, spotted dolphins in this case, and got to watch them hunt sardines. It's something to see all the sardines suddenly pop out of the water en masse, followed by the feeding dolphins. Many dolphins who were no longer hungry started chasing the boat, surfing in the wake, or passing before us to check out the kids in the air chairs. We also were lucky to see acrobatics from several who must have been showing off.
This boat also will tow you behind the boat on some handmade boards for something called "planeboarding". With snorkel masks on, you can hold onto the board while being towed and look below to see if you spot any dolphins looking back at you. Everyone but me was lucky to see a dolphin or two, but I was just happy to be in the water and experience the day, so it was good for all.
Once we left the dolphins, we went over to snorkel a little bit. Visibilty wasn't great, but we all saw some colorful fish and a sea snail, and had a great time swimming.
Our captain tried to spot some bottlenose dolphins for us on our return, but we didn't see them.
That was ok - we had seen hundreds of other dolphins, had seen flying fish and pelicans as well as lots of other wildlife, and had a great day.
Some snacks (cookies, chips and fresh fruit) as well as juice and water, were provided, though they recommend to bring anything else you might want. We got back in time for a late lunch, sticky with salt and really pleased with our excellent day.

“An Experience to Last a Lifetime”
Reviewed 9 May 2013

An incredible tour to be sure. It was definately costly for us but was something we were so happy we spent the extra money on. Do not miss out on this one! The dolphins were the highlight for sure, do the plane boarding in the water with them. It's the closest you'll ever get to being a dolphin! Thanks Josh, great information, thanks for sharing your love for The Osa with us.

“Worth every penny and more!”
Reviewed 30 March 2013

Hands down the best thing we did in the Osa. Josh and Tino were fantastic. The boat was clean, ran well and with a well thought design/layout. The air-chairs up front were such a great touch.
We could not have asked for a better day. It was sunny with not a cloud in the sky. The water, oh the water! So warm, so sweet. I loved it. The dolphins were fantastic. I'm 33 years old and acted like a schoolgirl.
I honestly cannot say enough about this trip. If come to the Osa and don't do it you are missing out. If you do it, you won't regret it.
I would do it again in a heartbeat.
