“Truly magical”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

I just returned from the most magical time at the Blue Osa. The location is idyllic, the staff goes out of their way to make everything perfect, and the food was to die for. I spent my days frolicking in the ocean waves, lounging by the pool, observing nature in all it's splendor, and indulging in the most deliciously healthy food I have ever had. I definitely recommend Blue Osa to anyone who wants to experience the magic of the Osa Peninsula.

Just finished my 6 am swim in the sexy blue tiled lap pool! There is no chlorine and is a refreshing way to start the day. It is also a great place to gaze at the stars and moon. If you prefer the Ocean it is just steps away, a long gray sand beach lines the property and makes for great walks, swims, dips and sunbathing, there is even some surf from time to time.

My three weeks at Blue Osa were filled with great company, nourishing food, and healing for the body mind and spirit. Each week a new yoga group comes in and the dynamics change, yet the love is constant. The friendly, warm, smiling staff add to the homely feel. Everyone comes to be transformed from their busy daily life, and after a few weeks I can attest that every soul has softened into a relaxed, smiling light.

The meals, of which there are 4 per day, will keep you well fed. Don't worry about overeating as they are all healthy meals with lots of fruit and vegetables, they even cater to special diets like gluten free and vegan, just let the smiling chefs know. You will always find your self in great conversation around the table as breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack are all served family style. Dinner is the most special as the owner, manager or chefs introduce each dish and share their inspirations.

Communing with nature is easy, you will see monkeys, macaws, beautiful butterflies and yes, lots of bugs! Luckily bug bites are a willing price to pay for the non-invasive environment Blue Osa has created. FYI - They do have bug spray and sunscreen for purchase if you forget yours. Being an Eco-resort there are so many behind the scenes things going on like composting, water catchment and recycling. Returning to nature is easy to do here with large cool and comfortable rooms.

I highly recommend getting some acupuncture done, Koji is a gifted healer. I definitely felt results (mobility in my knees) from his treatments that are still working. You might as well try a facial, massage and body wrap too!!! Marcella and Laura have that inviting spirit and radiant glow that will transport your mind into deep states of relaxation. My favorite is the Spirit of the Osa, 2 1/2 hours of Bliss! A foot soak, foot scrub, full body massage and facial. If you are one of those who find it hard to unwind this will surely do the trick!

All the yoga instructors held 2 classes per day and were top notch. If you don't feel like twisting around there are plenty of other things, like a horseback ride to a waterfall, zip lining adventures, hiking the Corcovado rainforest, and a few other nature related excursions.

The intimacy and community I felt here is unbelievable. In a world where we are all bombarded by media and disconnected from our neighbors, Blue Osa reminds us how to live together in a loving, friendly, hospitable way! I'll definitely be back to visit my new family and experience their wholesome love.

In a world full of incredible places and sights, it can be hard to find a truly transcendental experience. Blue Osa is nothing short of precisely that: for me, it was perfection in vacationing. As far off the grid as one can get, as deep in the jungle as one could imagine, and as different from one's daily experience as one could possibly hope.
If you're looking for a profoundly rejuvenating escape from your hectic life, this is it. Blue Osa is not just another fun place that's a bit out of the ordinary: it's more like a completely different planet. The sort that, as you hail a cab in the frantic crush of traffic, you always imagine must exist….somewhere.
Well, it does. And this is it, nestled against an azure-blue ocean on a secluded peninsula in southern Costa Rica: it is a sublimely holistic experience, beautifully planned, crafted, architected, executed and maintained to provide for its guests the most perfect possible conditions for relaxation, contemplation, breathing, reconnecting, and of course…deepening one's yoga practice.
Here, there is no honking traffic, crowded subways or bus fumes: instead, Blue Osa is an explosion of serenity. Natural magic, crashing waves, gentle coconut-scented breezes, exotic plants and animals are everywhere. The owners are fantastically dedicated, having sought out from all over the planet the very best handful of people to make this the most thoroughly rejuvenating and transformative retreat imaginable.
This is the reverse of the frat-boy, spring-break experience: no thumping bass lines or girls dancing on the bar, no overpriced cocktails bristling with cheesy umbrellas. Instead, I had a monkey sit on my lap, I rescued sea turtles at a nature conservancy, I saw dozens of wild dolphins jumping and playing an arm's length from the boat, I saw a humpback whale teach her baby to fish, and I watched the sun set over the ocean from the yoga deck as fireflies danced over beautifully-manicured lawns. This, by the way, was all in the first day there. Now just imagine a whole week of that!
Go to Blue Osa: but please go *only* if you want peace, quiet, tranquil beauty, world-class organic cuisine, unmatched yoga instruction, personally-guided tours, and the opportunity to experience absolute serenity. If you are after a tanning-oil and botox-soaked pickup palace full of LED lighting, tacky decor and shallow cultural stereotypes, then this is the wrong place for you. But if you are looking for a genuinely beautiful, natural eco-resort of absolute relaxation and quiescence, then you will find Blue Osa to be nothing short of Heaven.
There is so much more to say, but I found that Blue Osa far exceeded my wildest possible hopes and expectations. I plan to go back as often as I can! This is the best possible place from which to Love, Appreciate, and Reconnect with the Planet.
So please go - but leave your stereo at home: for at Blue Osa, there's a symphony of nature to enjoy.

Blue Osa is magical. I was there for a week long yoga retreat and am seriously considering going back in the fall for the 30 day yoga teacher training immersion program they offer. I felt centered the whole week; mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

The food is prepared with love by Jose and the kitchen staff. It is amazing; delicious, nourishing dishes with lots of fresh vegetables from the garden on site and unique combinations of herbs and spices. The nightly presentation of our meal was something to look forward to.

The natural environment allowed for peace and serenity; waking up with the sunrise was so invigorating. Even the sounds of the howler monkeys in the wee hours of the morning were welcome. The accommodations were comfortable and the rooms were well kept.

The yoga studio is breathtaking; open air, overlooking the ocean with lots of butterflies hanging out in their natural habitat and making our practice space extra special.

The resident dogs, Pete, Steve and Rama <3 and the house cat (whose name I didn't catch) made the experience even more comfortable and pleasant. They are welcoming and playful creatures, more than happy to have guests in their home.

Yogi Aaron and his team have created a wonderful oasis off the beaten path, where you can relax, restore, recharge and renew whether you're in the pool, at the beach, in the yoga studio or treating yourself to one of the many incredible spa treatments.

Hope to be writing another review in December when I'm back from my one month immersion program!

This was my first trip to Blue Osa for a life-changing yoga retreat. A tropical paradise where your surround by nature and filled with love. I nourished my body with fresh, healthy food prepared by a superb staff. My favorites were the coconut encrusted mahi-mahi, coconut lentils, and the chocolate coconut balls!!! I drifted off to sleep each night while listening to the ocean waves. Each morning, I would wake up early, anticipating yet another glorious sunrise. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Aaron, the entire staff, volunteers and the cuddly big puppies at Blue Osa for creating this wonderful oasis! Pure Vida!

Room Tip: Room 5 has the greatest view for sunrise if you're feeling lazy and want a room with a view!

I went to Blue Osa for a yoga retreat and had an amazing experience! The staff and facility embodied the spirit of Costa Rica. The cuisine was excellent -- fresh, healthy and tailor made upon request. The accommodations were peaceful and luxurious. Overall a superb experience. I would highly recommend and would definitely return.

Arriving with no expectations to an exotic location for 7 days of yoga and happiness was one of the best experiences of my traveled and untraveled life. The Blue Osa provided a near perfect venue for our 7 days of mental, physical and spiritual bliss that offered more than just a bed to rest our heads on. The architecture and style of the Blue Osa combined beauty, respect, and thoughtfulness that I was grateful to return within moments of arriving. It goes without saying that the food was incredible - fresh, delicious, savory and healthy for your body (and our earth as well). Each night, as the chefs presented our meals, all of our 5 senses were delighted to savor the hard work and care that was delivered in preparing our food.

One of the highlights of staying at Blue Osa was spending time on the beautiful beach with our new found four legged companions. Pete, Steve and Rama are three goofy and playful dogs who love the ocean as much as I do and any place that understands the happiness and joy of animals is a great place in my books. It was such a pleasure to be welcomed by these three pooches.

Hi Brent

There is nothing that gives us more joy than to see our guests enjoy Rama, Pete and Steve. Thank you so much for not only making the journey to Blue Osa, but to also give our animals so much attention.

We hope you can make it back again sooner than later.
