In a great location but it is quite far from the town itself so would recommend hiring a car, taxis are $15 each way.
The restaurant will not allow you to put charges on your room so you need cash with you to pay for drinks and food. No safe in the room and minimum storage.
Great location for seeing Macaws flying over and other birds, the beach was also lovely although we were bitten quite a bit by sandflies on our first day so didn't venture there again after that! Great tours around the area like kayaking the mangroves plus a great stop before Corcovado treks.

I've lived in Costa Rica for 12 years and there are parts of the country have not seen. I was planning a trip outside of the country but decided to see more of Costa Rica. Easy enough to get in the four-wheel drive and explore the country.
In Puerto Jimenez, Osa Peninsula we stayed at hotel Agua Dulce. the staff was friendly and very helpful when we had to relocate our room to get away from the water pump that was running constantly. The gardener helped to carry our luggage and special thanks to Stephanie who checked us in and was our waitress at breakfast.
the rooms did not have natural ventilation and required an air conditioner for part of the day. however from our Ocean View second story room there were nice breezes kept us cool in the night . the property is situated on one of the nicest beaches in the Puerto Jimenez area. Driving there required a four wheel drive as well as a sense of daring.Good place for one night.

Room tip: front cabins on the beach

Dear traveler,

Thank you for your visit and your review, which we see as a complete feedback. Our staff is all the time focus on providing their best service to everyone.

We also would like to make a comment as a responde for your kind works. First, all our rooms have sliding glass and net doors, so everyone can choose if a/c is needed or not. However, our location is in the midle of the tropic, therefore humidity could be part of the stay.

Regardless, we will be more than happy to have you back, so you can enjoy a different type of accommodation.

Once again, thank you for your visit and feedback.

Pura Vida,

Ricardo Guadamuz N.

We spent several nights here as a base for exploring some of the Osa Peninsula. The road to the resort is a little primitive but that lends to the experience, as the Osa is on the rugged side. Hotel room was nothing special. Clean and quiet however. Air conditioning was nice for a good nights' sleep. The pool was great after a day of hiking either on the wonderful beach or visiting the Matalapa. Restaurant was very good. Hotel and restaurant staff were all very accomodating, especially Stephanie, as we needed help with luggage storage after arriving early. She also set us up with the perfect guide to explore the area. Overall a good choice for a visit to Puerto Jimenez.

Room tip: Two cottages at front of the resort have a great view of the beach. The rest have either no view or limited.

This is truly a terrible hotel. In fact, I really don't understand why this got such great reviews and has earned a Tripadvisor Award of Excellence. It must only be because of the location.
From the moment we arrived we felt very unwelcome.
The hotel is run down, the rooms are dated, the bathroom simply horrible, the restaurant is terrible, truly terrible, the people that work there really don't care what so ever. And that's not only the people in the restaurant, it's almost everybody that works at the hotel.
They are probably ridiculously underpaid because they don't care, and that's putting it mildly.
At 5:45AM the gardeners start talking very loudly near their toolshed (1 meter from our bedroom), during the day they just sat down on our porch to look at their phones or talk. While we were in the room. We hardly had any privacy.
The cleaning staff only wanted to clean the room if it fitted their schedule, not ours. When our baby was sleeping too long in their opinion, they were throwing angry looks at us and made it very clear that they were unhappy about the fact that they had to wait with the cleaning of the room. Making us very uncomfortable.
They just don't care about the customers.
The breakfast was the worst we've had during our extensive travels around Costa Rica, and that's OK if you have the feeling they do it with love but in this case they just don't care. We had to ask for a simple bowl six times, we wanted eggs but they didn't want to make them the way we like them (a simple omelet with only eggs!), we didn't get fruit for our 1-year old because they didn't consider him to be a full person, even though we had food stamps for each breakfast. Again we had to ask several times and when they finally brought the things we'd requested they just threw it on the table.
I would never go back there, but apart from the bad things there are some good things; the location on Golfo Dulce is magical, the pool is good and they have bicycles you can take for free.

Room tip: Take a beachfront suite, at least you have the sea at your feet.

Dear Customer:

On behalf of everyone that works here, I want to apologize for all the inconveniences you had while spent some days with us.

I have read carefully your review and found it very interesting. At the moment you checked in, I was at the recepcion, I remember you and your beautiful family, as a matter of fact, I gave my authorization to upgrade you into a Beach front bungalow, instead of a suite, which you found very kind of us.

Anyways, I really feel sad that you did not mention anything while staying here, because if you did so, I could do something to make your stay remarkable in a good way, not this one.

Because of this, which we have taken as feedback, not a bad review, we have made some changes to avoid any disappointing or displeasure related to situations like this.

Hopefully, you will find this brief explanation enough or at least that to note that we do take feedbacks with respect.

However if a friend or a family member wants to visit us and double check that your feedback has been taken seriously, we will honor a 50% off in any of our accommodations.

Have a great weekend!!!

Yours truly,

Ricardo Guadamuz G.
