I did a 3 day tour of Corcovado park with Keller from Surcos tours. The park is very diverse, expect tons of animals, and even more exciting if you are a keen birdwatcher. Expect the most beautiful birds in the world!
Organizing was very efficient and easy - a couple of emails and I was ready to go in a few days.
Keller, the guide, was extremely friendly, knowledgable and responsible. Highly recommended!

Our family went to Sirena Ranger station for three days through Surcos Tours in March this year, and we had a wonderful time. Roger was our guide, and he was excellent! We saw so many different species of mammals (tapirs, both types of peccaries, monkeys, agoutis, anteater, red brocket deer), frogs, snakes basilisk lizard running across water!!! and bats, and particularly birds (close to 100 species). Roger is so amazingly passionate about birdwatching and no doubt one of the best guides there! At one point our children asked if he he had magical powers when they realized he could see, hear, sense and actually find animals that we would have walked right past without him. Everyone we mentioned his name to seemed to know him and had the same comment 'He is great'. We couldn't agree more!

Sirena Ranger Station is a very special place. I loved the communal feel and international camaraderie and slow simple pace of our time there. You take 20 steps from your tent or dormitory and are surrounded by nature and by people who love nature. What a unique and beautiful place!

None of this would have been possible without the help and patience of Estela. She was full of information, arranged each of the details of our trip and answered all our questions. Everything worked out exactly as planned and we had exactly the trip that we had been dreaming of!!

Thank you Estela and Roger!! You are awesome!!

We just returned from Costa Rica about a week ago. We had arranged to take an overnight trip to Corcovado traveling via boat from Drake Bay with Nito as our guide. The communication before the trip with Estela was great. She was very responsive to all my questions and always friendly and helpful in explaining what to expect. Nito was terrific. He was extremely knowledgable about every mammal, bird, insect and plant we encountered. His English is excellent and he was a pleasant companion for the day and a half that we spent together. It was apparent he really cares about the environment and the wildlife in it, even the smallest ant. He brought Swarovski binoculars and spotting scope, and whenever he found something of interest, he set up the scope and let us look through it, and then offered to take photos through the scope with our iPhones and/or camera. We got excellent photos in this way, and I so appreciate it. We got to see tapirs, an anteater, peccaries, and many monkeys, birds, insects, reptiles, etc. We slept on the tent platform at La Sirena Ranger Station which was adventurous and fun. It was basic and hot, but totally worth it for all the wildlife we saw, especially since one sighting (tapirs swimming at about 5:30 a.m.) would not have happened on a day trip only. Nito had tents there for us to use. I highly recommend Surcos tours!

We had a blast in Corcovado : 3 days / 2 nights in La Sirena and we saw a LOT during this trip...
We've seen tapyrs, macaws, ant eaters, frogs and even a puma !!

Surcos has been very professional and pratical. We organised everything via email and they were very helpful from the beginning. The guide was great and had great knowledge of the nature.

Don't hesitate, go for it and stay for 3 days :)

In January 2014 we did the 3 day hike from Los Patos to Sirena to Carate. We wouldn't have seen half the wild life, if we didn't have Keller guiding us. Keller's expertise is such that he would walk into an area and immediately sense the presence of animals. I would then spend the next 5 minutes messing with my binoculars trying to see what he knew was there. Some of the most exquisite sitings were small things that could so easily be missed, including poison dart frogs and hummingbird nests. Keller showed us one hummingbird nest with eggs and another with 2 baby hummingbirds in it!

At Sirena ranger station, we became even more aware of how lucky we were to have Keller. Some of the other guides were not as knowledgable or respectful of the jungle or their hikers as Keller. Keller was always cheerful and responsive to our needs. He obviously loves spending time in the park as much as we did.

If you go with Keller, be prepared to give him the big tip he deserves.

The rest of our experience with the Surcos staff was also excellent. Emails were promptly returned and all of our questions were quickly addressed so we felt well prepared for the hike.
Worth every penny.
