“A definite must stay”

Whether you are a surfer, hiker, yogi or just want to relax this place is for you. We had a wonderful stay at the bungalow. Located in the most gorgeous area of Costa Rica, walking distance to the beach and surf. The best part of the trip was our hosts Angelica and Felipe. They made us feel comfortable and took care of every detail. I highly recommend including the meals in your stay. The food is 5 star and that is an understatement! The bungalow itself is simple and charming. Teak furniture, a little kitchenette and two queen beds with a small single. We had maid service everyday and for a small fee you can also have your laundry done. Perfect for a group of 2-4. If you have any questions contact Felipe or Angelica the are a wealth of information.

I stayed with my sister and son at the bungalow for a week in June. The hosts, Angelica and Felipe were so great. We opted to include a light breakfast and dinner. The food was 5-star!! It is walking distance to several surf breaks and very open so the sounds of the rain forest abound. We did a day hike with a local guide which I highly recommend for the view and the information about native species. If you want to socialize there are a couple of places within walking distance. Go to Martina's for the homemade ice cream for sure!! A yoga instructor teaches pretty regularly on the property (El Tumbo has a beautiful open yoga deck and the main house is often used for yoga retreats) and the yoga instructor does Thai massage (Felipe or Angelica will arrange all this for you).

My son and I stayed at the Creekside Bungalow in March, 2013 and had an amazing time. First of all Angelica and Felipe, who run the place, are wonderful. And boy can Angelica cook! Be sure to chose the option that includes food. The bungalow is clean and roomy. The place was quite and the wildlife is everywhere. It is a very short walk to the beach and you really can hear the tumble of the surf. I have been to the Matapalo area a number of times before, and, for the money, no place can beat this.

The Creekside Bungalow at Tumbo de las Olas should be at the top of your list if you are hoping to spend any time in the Osa Peninsula. Let me back up-- the Osa Peninsula should be at the top of your list if you are going to Costa Rica!!

I lived in Costa Rica for four years, half of which was in the Osa Peninsula. I have been back once or twice a year since leaving, and I always stay at the Creekside Bungalow. It is set back from the ocean, beneath trees whose branches serve as a network of highways for the four types of monkeys found in Costa Rica. As the name would suggest, it is located next to a little creek, whose trickling will lull you to sleep each night. A stone's throw across the creek is a brand new yoga deck (Jan. 2012), with wooden floors made out of local (sustainable) wood.

The bungalow itself is a steal for the price. It is among the more affordable lodging options in the area, and is very tastefully and comfortably decorated. The bungalow has wooden floors, a hammock, a ceramic tiled bathroom, a little kitchenette with pleasing service-ware, and queen sized beds with mosquito nets that feel like canopy beds.

Perhaps the best part of staying at the Creekside bungalow, is the family that runs the place. Felipe, Angelica, and their two adorable children, are four truly lovely people. They are bilingual, excellent cooks (if you have the means to have them cook for you, you should), tremendously knowledgeable about the area, especially the surfing, and generally a ton of fun.

Superb location, clean and very comfy!
We went on a day surfing trip, got amazing waves. The wildlife around the bungalow was really astonishing! The managers are super helpful and are also the cooks. Make sure to try their food and specially, the COFFEE.
