We stayed here one night before our flight the next morning. The price was reasonable, the room was clean, and we had a beautiful view sitting in front of the pool looking out over the Puerto Jimenez bay. I recommend this hotel for a place to stay in Puerto Jimenez.

It's nice when a "home base" starts to feel like home. This was our second stay at Cabinas Jimenez, and we had fond memories of exploring beautiful Golfo Dulce in John's boat and learning our way around Puerto Jimenez on bumpy bicycles.
This time, having spent the previous week in a rustic tent and traveled by bus all day, we arrived at Cabinas Jimenez like it was a sanctuary. Clean dry beds, efficient fans or air conditioning, warm water showers, an in-room refrigerator... all this would have been comfort enough, but the friendly staff warmed our hearts with helpful tips, directions to dinner and a giant umbrella to get us on our way. They let us store a bag for a week while we hiked Corcovado and visited Carate, and they helped us sort out logistics of unexpected rains and closed roads.
On a sunny day, we helped ourselves to the hotel's kayaks and lounged by the pool. Another great attribute at Cabinas Jimenez are the other guests. Interesting conversations always are available among adventurous international travelers. This place just has easy, no frills character.

Room Tip: Rooms are basic, but clean, with hand painted murals and everything you need.

Hi Atlanta, Georgia, Thank you for your review of Cabinas Jimenez, the home base of the Osa Peninsula. It was a pleasure to take you out in my boat. I am also pleased to hear that you wrote a very nice compliment about my friendlt staff. And that you made good use of the kayaks, and the swimming pool. Hope to see you again, John owner of Cabinas Jimenez

We loved being at Cabinas Jimenez. My family (husband and two daughters ages 12 and 10) have been to Costa Rica many times but this was the first time I felt they really got a sense of a Costa Rican village. Plenty to do (toured Finca Kobo and took the excellent dolphin tour), as well as just hang out in the pool and very warm but silty ocean. Room was well appointed (we stayed in the private bungalow) and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

recently I dropped some friends off at cabinas jimenez for an overnight stay prior to catching their plane to san jose. The cabinas are on the waterfront on the edge of town and a minute's drive from anywhere in puerto jimenez. I was very impressed with the clean and plesant rooms with air con and the bar/pool area. Although dinner or lunch aren't served, a short walk to 'Pizza Mail it' or one of the waterfront restaurants will provide you with a great meal. The rooms have fridges and some have microwaves so you can always stock up on food and enjoy a light meal looking out over the Golfo Dulce and maybe a chance sighting of dolphins or hump backed whales. The staff are friendly and obliging and can offer a diverse range of tours if you wish to stay longer. I was thinking of having a mini break myself , even though Cabo Matapalo is less than an hours drive and that is where I spend most of my time. This is a great place to stay if you want to be centrally located and explore the Osa - a truly unique and magical place.

My wife and I stayed there last week in Cabina #1 with a fantastic view of the gulf just feet from the water. Tom and crew were great, room was clean, A/C and shower worked — what more could you ask for?

Room Tip: We don't have anything to compare it to, but room #1 was great.
