Nice place, clean, good location, nice people, nice little pool, everything fine but....

But then it comes the "A/C torture": in order to save on the electric bill (and the cabins rates doesn't justify it), the Air Conditioning is controlled by a timer, with maximum of ONE hour setting.
So, at night, when you awake soaked in sweat, you got to rise and reach the wall to get ONE more hour of cool air and resulting sleep.
Then, after an hour or so, the same story. All night long. A nightmare.

I apologize for the Air Conditioning problem. My staff / receptionist must have forgotten to explain to you that if hold the button, for the A.C. timer, it will stay on all night. I have already made up small laminated signs / directions explaining the correct use of the A.C timers, so that this problem will not happen again. And if would be kind enough to write another review, it would be greatly appreciated by me. Again, I apologize for the problem. John owner of Cabinas Jimenez

We didn't stay at Cabinas Jimenez but did a boat tour with Tom. He showed us the rooms and facilities and we were bummed that we had already booked at Iguana Lodge. The rooms are great quality for price with nice water views, some with large balconies. The pool is cute. If we could have changed our booking, we would have and next time I will be booking at Cabinas.
The boat trip was a repeat for us and not disappointing. We loved Tom and he had lots of interesting stories and we spent hours with a large dolphin pod. The visit to Osa Sanctuary was great and so was snorkeling.
All and all a great day.
We walked down the street and ate at Marisqueria Corcovado and ended up playing pool with the locals, so much fun and yummy.

Sit by the pool or in a hammock and enjoy one of the most colorful gardens around, as you sip your drink and gaze out at the beautiful Golfo Dulce and watch the comings and goings of the harbor and ferry dock. Scarlett Macaws and parrots fly overhead, many beautiful birds and even iguanas come by for quick visit. When you get rested from the long drive in to PJ, Cabinas Jiminez has plenty of activities to choose from. Go kayaking! For a longer interesting paddle see'Tom Kayak' at the front desk who can be your guide-- he has years of experience. Go for a dolphin tour - Captain John can show you the amazing Golfo Dulce from his cool boat the La Sirena. Ask the world's most cheerful front desk man, the inestimable Ronny, for suggestions on things to do like go for a bike ride and picnic over to the Playa Precisosa, or a tour of Cabo Matapalo. This was our fourth stay at Cabinas Jiminez, and we always enjoying (!) getting dental work done from Dra. Melissa Morales (ph 8725-2605) while here. Need a crown? She will take the impression, send it off to San Jose while we take advantage of all the many wonderful things to do around Puerto Jiminez, including, of course, lounging by the beautiful Cabinas Jimenez Pool ! :)

Room Tip: Rooms facing the water have amazing views through the tropical foilage of the Golfo Dulce.

Had the best time in Puerto Jimenez. I caught a sailfish, fishing, went on the Sonora Boat Tour across the Gulf of Dulce and saw dolphines and a sailfish eating at the water's surface. Also saw very rare pink birds in a tree above the boat in a river. Ate some delicious food at nearby resturants.

Room Tip: I had a great view of the gulf from rm #10

We stayed two nights in Cabinas Jimenez, before and after we wend for 3 day hike to Corcovado.
The owners were very helpful with our booking. Both the basic and deluxe room met our expectations, the deluxe one was actually super-deluxe with small terrase viewing the bay.
Nice breakfast spot and very tasty dinner places are within 5 minutes walking distance. Airport is 1km away, you can walk from there or take a $5 cabride. I can't think of better location in Puerto Jimenez.
The hotel is small and cozy, with a nice swimming pool area. All surrounded with beautiful palmtrees and flowers where you can spot many birds. They make noise!
They have free bicycles and kayaks - we took kayaks to explore the mangrove during high tide.
We left our suitcase there for 3 days with no hussle.
We recommend Cabinas Jimenez to everyone planning a vacation in Osa Peninsula or like us - coming to PJ as a base for Corcovado adventure. There is no other town in there and you will love it for the coziness and local atmosphere, far from crowded tourist spots we've seen during our other journeys.

Room Tip: cheapest rooms have no view, it's more 'just sleep there' type of a room deluxe and sup...

We stayed in the Private Bungalow our first 2 nights in Costa Rica. It was perfect for getting acclimated to the climate, culture and area. The location was great and the lovely deck on the gulf was beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable and there was a great view laying in bed. We don't like air conditioning, so we used the 2 floor fans and ceiling fan and we were just fine. Walking into town or using the bikes was easy, everything is close by. I especially loved the staff and how helpful they were, from recommending places to eat, to coordinating our transportation around the peninsula to our next resort. When we came back to Puerto Jimenez a week later to catch a boat, they let us drop our luggage there for a couple of hours so we could walk around town. I would definitely stay there again.
