Good food and reasonable prices for the family. The ceviche when its not over salted, is great. Good service.

The location was easy to find with Waze, the restaurant has a very local feel and the owners are super friendly. The food was delicious. Even our picky kids liked their meals. Price was about $90 for 6 people.
My family and I (we have two little kids) came for lunch during the off-season of mid May so it was very quiet. Probably the most hospitable restaurant experience we've ever had which started with the capuchin monkeys we were introduced to outside the restaurant and continued to amazingly fresh and deliciously cooked food (snapper, shrimp, chicken, rice, etc.), conversation with proprietors and even an introduction of the kids to their rooster :-)
Can't recommend this place highly enough.
Jiuberth ("Hubert", in English) and his wife are long-time resident of the Quepos coast. He got started in his business because he was an avid fisherman and amateur chef; when he would come back from the sea, or the river, and crank up his grill, throngs of neighbors -- attracted by the irresistible aromas -- would come to beg, borrow or buy a share of the feast. The hobby quickly took over and Jiuberth and his wife (who is as good in the kitchen as Jiuberth himself) have been full time restauranteurs for as long as most people can remember.
But there is more to their success than just preparing and serving food. All restaurants do that, but few display the love of the craft that Jiuberth and his wife do. Jiuberth still goes down to the river, or out to sea, on a daily basis to bring back the delicacies they will carefully prepare and serve later that day.
The atmosphere is homey and comfortable; the decor is basic, eclectic, nothing fancy; the service is warm, personal and gratifying; the food is beyond delicious -- as good as it gets; and you may find rare specialties on the menu, like the fresh river shrimp I tried ("langostinos"). Caught that morning by Jiuberth, prepared in a succulent sauce by his wife, the plate they brought me has replaced all my old memories of what is certainly one of my very favorite dishes. This, alone, would have justified the drive down from San José.
We went here for Valentines day. The sign that we saw was a hand painted, nailed to a power post with an arrow showing the direction.:) When we drove up it didn't look like much on the outside......but we love these kind of restaurants because they always serve great food! We were not disappointed. As you walk in, it is a nice and quaint. There is a view if you go in the daylight hours. We had the platter with a Lobster Tail and it was "Devine". As the other reviews mentioned, they take you back to their kitchen to pick out the fresh seafood you would like. When I asked for mucho garlic a big smile came over their face! LOL The side dishes were fresh and delicious too. A very nice family/couple owned restaurant that take very much pride in their business and friendly to all customers. Would Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.
