When we arrived at the first time we were greated by the very nice hostel owner in the empty building. He even gave us a refreshing coca cola, very friendly. The room for 2 people had a bunk bed, a fan and a bathroom. To climb up the bunk bed wasn't easy but I did it. When I opened the blanket dead leafs fell out, that was a little bit weird. The room smelled very disgusting each time we came in. In the shower (only cold water) were hair from other guests and there was no mirror. The door handle from the bathroom was so rusty that you always had to wash your hands after touching it.
Because of the good reviews about the dinner we tried to get dinner in the hostel. We had been waiting for 2,5 hours (!) but the hostel owner just came by to switch on the light from the balcony (where we wanted to eat) and left. So we and another guy in this lonely hostel drank beer instead having dinner, a supermarket was across the road. We had dinner in town then..
Breakfast was good for the price, we had scrambled eggs, sort of melon, white bread and coffee.
The owner was really lovely but I wouldn't stay here again, sorry :(

The owner is really friendly and very helpful. Gives you a lot of tips to go around and explore and it is always willing to help you around and make you comfortable. Also he prepares very good and cheap food. Breakfast included is a plus. Although the place gets really hot during the day and lacks a bit of ventilation. Water in the shower is cold and lacks a bit of details in decoration that could make it more cozy. Also it is close to the bus stop to and from Manuel Antonio, but on the other hand it is not so central if you are considering downtown Quepos.

The owner just surprised us with cooking a really nice dinner with our basic ingredients we brought. He just added some of his food and served us a delicious dinner. The room and bath were clean, beds comfortable and no problems with any noise. We stayed for one night. Later in the evening he showed up with hot chocolate. Have you ever had that? Because we had no expectations, we were surprised again. You could notice that the owner loves serving guests and giving them a good time during their stay. He told us his story and now we know why. Oh did I forget that the breakfast was healthy and really good as well.
Rarely had such a good stay!

Spent 2 nights there lately and had good stay. Owner is very friendly, helpful and a great cook. Had a great brekkier every morning. Rooms are average, little bit too hod and because it's next to the main road then it can be really noisy. As long you have earplugs should be okay. Owner showed me some great wild life at the hostels courtyard when there was a sleeping sloth & a troop of squirrel monkeys next to you. Great experience!

Room Tip: wildlife, food

We had a nice stay here. The Hostel is located in Quepos, bus the bus pass often just by the hotel so it takes only few minutes to go to Manuel Antonio.

Downside :
It was super hot when we stay and the fan was really loud. So is the road passing by, traffic didn't stop during the night. So I had difficulties sleeping there.

Plus Side :
The Owner is very nice and cooks crazy nice dinner for 5$ only (weirdly enough the breakfast was ordinary : scramble eggs).

The room is lacking of furniture and wifi wasn't competing with the speed of a snail.

Overall I give it a 4 out of 5 sloth.
Room was 30$ a night for a double room with private bathroom and breakfast for 2.
