this is a small hotel on the edge of quepos. it was very clean and had an awesome pool. The first day we were there a bunch of monkeys came to the trees by the pool. :) the breakfast was always good, the staff was nice (and very helpful--we got stuck there for a day or two during alma) although most of my party left and went to a hostel because villa romantica wanted like 100 and some dollars if four people stayed in a room. You have to pay for airconditioning but it worked well. They have nice cold beverages you can buy. great location, must eat at dos locos-chicken nachos.
the only thing i didn't like about villa romantica was they charged for use of the pool table and soccor table. that seemed kind of cheesy.

Oh Yeah There is an awesome view of the volcano from the hotel . some hotels charge 100's for that view

An excellent little hotel right on the edge of Quepos. There is a little store right across the street to buy supplies for the beach; and the bus picks you up right out front (if they stop for you).

My room was very clean and very quiet at night. The staff at the front desk was extremely helpful and very nice. The pool offers a perfect way to cool off after a long day on the beach.

This was our first trip to Costa Rica and we spent five very relaxing days and nights at the Villa Romantica. It is located at the south-east corner of Quepos and is set back enough from the main road that it is fairly quiet. From the hotel you can easily walk into town to the shops, restaurants, adventure outfitters, dive shops, the main bus station, and the ocean front. Just about 50 metres east of the hotel is the bus stop where you can catch the public bus for Manuel Antonio - a scenic ride which costs about 25 cents per person and takes 15-20 minutes. (Then you will realize that most of the other area hotels are along - and quite close to - this very busy Quepos-Manuel Antonio road, and thus may be quite noisy at times).

The hotel garden is very beautiful, with a wide diversity of plants, flowers and trees. The good-sized pool is clean and often quite shady, but this is welcome after a hot day on the beach. Breakfast was excellent, with a good selection of food and beverages. Inexpensive cold drinks were available 24 hours on a self-serve honor system basis. You can also order coffee, tea and cake during the day. The room was very clean and comfortable, with quality beds, hot water, good shower, TV and air conditioning. Some of the lower level rooms may be a bit dark as they do not overlook the elevated pool.

All in all, a great place to stay and a convenient location for exploring Quepos and visiting Manuel Antonio National Park. Thanks to Inge and Tanya for their hospitality and advice.

This is a small hotel (16 rooms) in Quepos, along the Central Pacific coast in Costa Rica. It's at the end of town where the road branches off to Manuel Antonio Park. It's a beautiful setting -- they have incorporated the building into the jungle and it is truly romantic. The pool is lovely although the water is a trifle chilly. The room was very nice and quiet -- out on the veranda, we could hear some traffic noise but not a sound in the room. No hair dryer, shampoo or clock, but who needs to know what time it is in Quepos? Big fluffy towels. The air conditioner did its best to keep up with the heat and the room temperature was tolerable. The beds were a tad bit hard. No ice machine, but cold drinks that you get out of the cooler and mark down (using the honor system) on a piece of paper. Breakfast was delightful every morning, and the staff went above and beyond with local information and arranging tours and just being exceptionally friendly.

Despite the minor inconveniences, we would definitely stay at this beautiful hotel again and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. Small, quiet, spotless, friendly but unobstrusive staff, stunning location -- we loved it!

We visited Quepas in March as part of a self drive vacation. The hotel is not in Manuel Antonio. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. The room we had was perhaps a little smaller than the average hotel/motel room but adequate for the two of us. The air conditioner was an in-room unit that did an adequate job. The bed was comfortable. Although we parked inside the gated area both nights there didn't appear to be room for more than 3 cars inside. If you're looking for 4 star luxury, this isn't your place. If your expectations are lower, you probably won't be disappointed. The grounds are lovely and Manuel Antonio is about 7 miles away. You will probably pay a lot more as you get closer to Manuel Antonio.
