This was the most unique experience we have had so far! Very personal service Eddy, Manuel, Ivan and little Ashley couldn't have been more flexible or accommodating for our large group and variety of needs! This cultural experience was enlightening and truly enriching all the way down to the homemade tortillas, coffe, and cheese! The horses were well fed, well behaved, and a pleasure for even the most inexperienced rider! This is an affordible must do trip people! Don't miss out!

Recommend to get booked through www.chirriposa.net as I did. I had only good experinces, stayed in the most beautiful lodges, had the best and freshest food, took hikes in the jungle, swam in rivers, took showers under waterfalls, and hot baths in thermal water while having nonstop encounters of all the animals you dream to see. I will definitly return.

This 2 day hike was definitely a lot more challenging than I thought. BE READY.

The lodge is pretty overpriced for what it is- a prison like hostel of sorts with no hot water and the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept on in my life. The water is FREEZING so I am glad my group brought baby wipes up and cleaned up that way instead of stepping into a cold shower from the average 10 degree celsius temperatures.

Definitely a memorable experience all in all- Glad I did but I would not do it again!

Stay at Hostel Mariposa!! That was our favorite part of the trip

If this is the only chance you will get to do this amazing hike consider which route you want to take. The traditional route begins in San Gerardo de Rivas and takes you through a steep 14.5 kilometer hike. The route itself is pretty much a mental and physical challenge but all hardship is rewarded once you get to the Crestones Base. Several nice trails to do as day hikes if you want to stay there for a day or two. BUT, if you want to do a breathtaking route and feel like you are wondering in the hills of Morodor..... You must get to Chirripo through the Uran peak route. This takes longer because you basically have to hike 32 kilometers to get to Chirripo but you will be doing to peaks in one trip and see amazingly beautiful sights.

Beautiful hiking in this area, off the tourist path, and just incredible. LOVED it and so glad we ventured inland.
