We recently visited this restaurant with our two children and another couple. We happened upon it by chance as we were visiting the nearby Lego Store for the kids. We were there on Saturday night and it was not overly busy, but the menu and concept were enticing so we opted to stop for a meal despite the seemingly higher price points on the menu.
We immediately loved the atmosphere and had a very pleasant waitress. Everything on the menu looked delicious and we had a hard time determining what we should eat. We ordered some ceviche which the waitress said was "very delicious" in Spanish. There were some definite language barriers as our waitress did not speak any English. We thoroughly enjoyed the heaven and purgatory were considered courses on the menu although this lead to confusion in the ordering of our meals.
We ordered our food and while it took awhile for the food to arrive, the bread that was delivered was delicious. When the appetizers were delivered we were shocked by the amount of food received for the menu price. The waitress went through explaining what everything was, although it was in Spanish and we were still confused as to what we were eating. The octopus was delicious and the tuna ceviche was amazing. When the main courses were finally delivered we were equally satisfied with the flavor and value. The sea bass with tarragon butter was unreal as was the salmon and seafood risotto. The only dish that was a disappointment was the kamasutra chicken. It looked like chicken and rice and the portion was so tiny in comparison to the others.
My only major complaint about this restaurant is the value on the children's meals. Our kids always share a meal and we ordered them the pizza from the kid's menu. This pizza was the tiniest thing ever and was very expensive for what it actually was. We had to order them additional sides to fill them up and this NEVER happens at restaurants. We were very disappointed with this aspect of the meal.
When the bill arrived we realized that there had been a significant error in the bill by 14,000 colones. We tried to communicate this with our server but she did not understand much English. So, she brought someone over who spoke English. She had charged us for some Tapas called Tapas Pergartorio which we never ordered, but, willingly ate when she delivered it to us as we did not understand a word she said when she brought it to the table. The issue was rectified quickly and the restaurant took the 14,000 colones off the bill. I was incredibly impressed by this.
This restaurant provided a wonderful evening with friends and family and we will always remember the delicious food. As mentioned, the kids portions are not worth the money. But, if you find yourself in the San Jose area, stop by this restaurant. It is definitely worth the stop!
