I paid $80 US tax in a night at this hotel for 2 nights. Considering what you would pay for a hotel in north america and the quality you would get, this is a nice clean hotel,staff was proff, friendly with good spoken english. Try and get a room on a higher floor for the view and to avoid hearing the car traffic The pool is lovely with an outdoor restaurant , and the grounds are beautiful as well. Flat screen TV's, room service ( slow however and they sometmes forgot my oder). Now the problems with the hotel are such....terrible location! 10 mins by cab to Downtown San Jose..will run you $ 12 US every time ...no meter cabs from this hotel :( would have cost 1/3 the price. Highways all around you...now at this price you can find goreous hotels in downtown san jose with a pool as well. So do some more research, but def do not spend your entire holiday in San Jose at this Hotel. You are cutting yourself short. Oh! make sure to reserve the shuttle bus from the airport. I was told on the phone that they pass every 30 mins to pick up guests....so i waited for 2 hours at the airport ..calling the hotel! Yet must admit it was a luxury getting picked up as an added service offered by the hotel. Cost me $ 25 US to cab it back to the airport when I left from a different hotel.

We chose a 4 star hotel on Priceline for $ 75 ! with taxes and fees it comes to around $ 95. This is by no means a 4 Star ! At best a 3 ! The rooms are ok but extremely noisy ! High traffic noise from outside !We could hardy get any sleep with so much outside noise.The breakfast is extremely over priced at $ 17 plus tax around $ 24 pp ! What a rip off ! Far away from any other eating place or shopping.You need a taxi for everything !
Avoid this place if you want to want some decent sleep and breakfast which is normally included in other city hotels !

The hotel overall is decent and most personnel are nice. However, location of hotel in less than ideal. Hotel is located on a hill, there is nothing close by. There are no metered taxis outside hotel like most major hotels . When we wanted to eat outside the hotel or go to downtown area, we were forced to use the van service from hotel, that charged more than double what the metered taxi would charge. We had to pay $9.00 to go to downtown with hotel van, but we paid $4.00 when we hired a metered taxi from downtown to hotel.
Next day, when we wanted to eat outside the hotel, I asked the concierge lady how get us a metered taxi, she refused to get us one,and send us to hotel van service.
I would not recommend this hotel to travelers.

If I could rate this room 3.5 stars, I would. The pool was just outstanding! If it hadn't been pouring down rain, I would have spent my whole day there. The lobby was gorgous. All of the employees besides the housekeepers spoke English, and all of the employees were very helpful. Our room was on the 5th floor - the 5th & 6th floors are considered thier "business levels" and require you to enter your card into the elevator to get to. There was an office with several computers and internet access. Our view from our room of San Jose and the hotel gardens was lovely. And it was a nice surprise to see the ammenities in our bathroom included a toothbrush, tiny tube of toothpaste, shaving kit, sewing kit, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, shoe mit, bath salts, and more. I've never seen anything like it!

The reasons I did not rate this hotel higher: found a needle stuck in the carpet between the beds. Someone probably used the sewing kit and simply dropped it before our stay, but that could have been a painful way to start our Costa Rica trip. The beds were hard as a rock! Surprising, considering how luxurious everything else felt. Lastly, we had no bathtowels. Had to track a housekeeper down who then borrowed towels from another room since her cart had none.

Overall, I'd definitely stay here again.

Stayed three nights before a Caravan tour. Comfortable room, clean, nice public areas. Enjoyed the pool and gardens. I've seen some reviews complaining about service; this is a nice place but you won't pay the prices of hotels with "4 or 5 star service" so don't expect that type of service. Our check in at midnight was slow because there was only one clerk and several waiting to be checked in. But for the most part staff was friendly and we had two very nice and friendly bar tenders. Large dining room with buffet--open air. About 10 minute taxi ride from airport in non commute times; nothing close to walk to so plan on using taxi service.

The rooms and common areas were good. The grounds were very good. Internet is ridiculously expensive (I think it was $10 per hour). The casino is small. The breakfast and dinner buffets were impressive - not 5 star restaurant food but lots of variety. The location is not far from lots of things (airport, downtown), but not walking distance to anything. Taxi prices vary wildly (the same trip can cost $3 or $10), so know your price up front. The hotel has a reputation for being super-luxurious so that might lead to higher cab prices. I don't think the hotel is as good or luxurious as its reputation, but it is a very nice place.

Hotel is located in relative proximity to SJO airport and for a fee of $20 you can conveniently catch a cab. Although the hotel advertises a free, set schedule shuttle service from the airport, the wait of 2 and a half hours was unacceptable to me after a long trip. Hotel has a couple of restaurants with decent but overpriced food, a good bar with live music and a cover charge, a perpetually empty casino and sluggish, impersonal poolside service. Service as a whole leaves a lot to be desired for the claim of caliber of this hotel. I have had more pleasant wait times in my dentist's office compared to the wait for check in/out at the front desk. Hotel rooms are spacious, well decorated and clean. One has to speak fluent Spanish to get room service, which has expensive good food. There is an exercise room with sauna and steam room - all unremarkable. On the way to the very well kept pool you will find a manicured, petite tropical garden. The pool, without doubt, is this hotels most notable feature. Overall, I will consider staying at this hotel again. Really hope they hire motivated staff by that time.
