My girlfriend and i booked into this hotel as it was the starting and ending point of a group tour we were doing in Costa Rica. It was a very nice hotel. Though it is an old hotel and not a 5 star resort, it was very clean, comfortable, and had very warm and welcoming staff. Of which some spoke very good English and entertained my attempts at Spanish haha. Great central location with my girlfriend and we just walked everywhere we wanted to go to into the main CBD of San Jose. Banks, ATM, convenience stores, shops, fast food, parks, museums, its all within 5-10 mins walk. Also across the road and to the left a bit is a big hotel that has an awesome Italian Restaurant on the street corner that had the best wood fired pizzas, which yes its not traditional Costa Rican food, but was perfect for a close dinner when we arrived at the hotel at 9pm after our flight.
Generally speaking don't walk outside the hotel(or anywhere in the city really) too far a night alone. Even in pairs or groups there are still dodgy people and places you may encounter.More
