A marvellous compilation of all things Costa Rican.

Really good and broad collection.

Very good value for money.

We did not use a tour guide but the price was not expensive to get in. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be but there were a couple of areas where the artifacts were fantastic along with the history. We only spent an hour or so in it but I would still recommend it if you are in the downtown area.

We visited the theater in June 2014. The price is $7.00 for tourist but well worth the price. The tour guide was extremely informative and very passionate about the theater. Beautiful artwork and lovely history . I would highly recommend the tour .We even got to sit down and listen to a sound check for the preformance to be held that evening We really heard just about the whole show.

This place it is a concentrated review of Costa Rica's History, there is a good amount of artifacts and if you take the tours you will get the most of your money, like everything else in CR not really expensive.
The regular cost of life in Costa Rica is 75$ cents per dollar, that means that if you were to purchase anything in US for a $1 the very same thing in Costa Rica will cost 75$.

Have a great trip and enjoy.

Perhaps if I hadn't visited the preColumbian gold museum the day before I'd have been more impressed. Large old fort converted to museum. Walk through butterfly garden at entrance. Mixed bag of displays include commandant's quarters, precolumbian dioramas & items carved from lava rock, audio-visual collection of music and dance from Central American countries and displays relating to the stuggle for democracy. Lots of empty rooms.
