“Beautiful Architecture!”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

On our walk around San Jose, we ended up on a very narrow street that led us to this beautiful building. Only downside in my personal opinion is the yellow color and the thousands of pigeons surrounding the area. Definitely watch out for them perched up in branches all around you! A must see if walking around the downtown area of San Jose!

“Worth a visit if you are downtown, but not worth a special trip.”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

The central post office in downtown San Jose is an interesting example of old, traditional Costa Rican architecture, and is worth passing by if you are going to be downtown anyway. There is a cafe in the back so you can stop and enjoy a cup of coffee while you are there.

Probably not worth a special trip to see, especially if you are visiting outside of the downtown San Jose area, but again, if you are downtown it is worth swinging by.

Also, if you do actually need to mail anything while you are in Costa Rica, or if you want to open up a PO Box or something like that, then Correo Central is probably the most efficient place to do so.

“Not quite a destination...”
Reviewed 15 May 2014 via mobile

This was more of a trip to get stamps. However I am very surprised to see it listed as a thing to do. The exterior is very elaborate. The paint on the exterior is of a finish that shows up blemishes. Someone should have chosen the proper finish. It's like a wee little injustice to the building. The post office faces a lane that is pedestrianised and you can sit across from it and really admire the old design. The interior is a bit bland, all things considered.

i enjoyed looking at the many design styles that make the exterior of this building so special. The city of San Jose are refurbishing all of their historic buildings.

“mailing postcards from San Jose to the States”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

Definitely a very unique architectural building. Even the people who work at the post office are should I say unique. Went to San Jose Costa Rica in March with one of my goals to mail postcards from there back to the States and Europe. After waiting in line I looked to purchase 25 post card stamps. It turned out though I needed Costa Rican money to purchase the stamps and not the American Dollar. Went next door and purchased their currency and was able to mail them the next day.
I must say the building and people made it a unique experience and overall I was happy to send the postcards. Lets just hope they ( the postcards) make it to their final destinations.
Something that I would do is not make you purchase two stamps for overseas delivery. The stamps are large and you had to lick them to affix the postage.
Definitely it was one of many highlights of my trip (that may sound corny but it's true).
