We had lunch this afternoon at this restaurant. I had avocado and shrimp salad with a cup of soup, and my husband had seafood soup. They were very good and inexpensive. We paid less than $13.
This restaurant seems for the locals and everything is a fast pace but servers were very kind and patient.

Thank Pocono

We were looking for a local place to eat lunch and found this in the Central Market. The service was good and the food was good. This is a local place and is not where most tourists would stop and eat. We are glad we did. We had tamales and quesedias with two diet cokes for $8.68. This is not fancy.

Order your tico meal with sauces or tell them not too cook too long, you like it a little pink, otherwise your meats will be jerky.
The food is safe and clean for USA stomachs.
Bistek, grilled/fried fish, casado were ok.

I took the time to find this place in the central market and was happy I did. The seafood soup was awesome served with a side o shrimp fried rice and chips and plantains all for under $4.00. The market itself is a bit overwhelming but this is as real as it gets.

If you're wandering around the Central Market and want a good place to eat some local food, I recommend Marisqueria La Ribera. Although it specializes in traditional seafood plates, they also have a variety of other typical food, such as "casados", rice and chicken and fried chicken. They even have their own twist on the very popular chifrijo.

You'll get fresh food at a very cheap price, which is what the market "sodas" (restaurants) are known for.
