“Like a Paris Bistro in the 1970's”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014

Small restaurant with a very laid-back staff who don't hurry you at all. Everything there, including the menu, reminded me of my Paris bistro days in the 1970's. I had French onion soup and grilled kidneys with a very nice salad and a good house wine, but if you're not into organs, there's plenty more on the menu. You'll probably need to take a taxi there, but the driver knew exactly where it was, so no problem at all. And the restaurant staff went out and hailed a taxi to take us back to our hotel.

“Best beef in Costa Rica!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

This is the best beef and Argentinian food you can have in the country. Be sure to have the empanadas and the Argentinian Parrilla, it is great food and great service

“Best Service, Amazing Food, Authentic Atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

We came here while in San Jose for only two nights based on reviews. We called for reservations, but they open at 6 pm and told us to just show up early. We did and were immediately seated, and just as they told us, by 7:30 they were full! We had four kids with us and immediately we were served water (and it was refilled often) - if you have been traveling for a long time like we have, this is so appreciated because we always have to buy several bottles of water at restaurants if they don't serve cold filtered water. Walter was our server (which we were happy about because we had read reviews mentioning him) and he immediately drew us each a picture on our tablecloth and dropped off some colored pencils for the kids. He was the the most attentive waiter we have had on this trip - absolutely loves his job and it shows. Although he had many tables, he was somehow always right there when we had a question or something needed to be ordered or cleared. The food was delicious - I had the Pollo Mediterraneo, the younger girls split the fried chicken and potatoes, and my husband had a two different kinds of steak that walter suggested. My son had a beef stew with potatoes on top. It was all delicious and flavorful and we would recommend all that we had. We also had the apple crepe a la mode and volcano cake for dessert! All the kids want to go back tonight again! Also, my 7 year old daughter thought she left her bracelet in the restaurant so we came back in to look for it and the entire staff was helping us, and then Walter gave her some stickers! Walter, if you are reading this, I wanted to let you know that she absolutely loved the stickers, AND she found her bracelet back at the hotel room. Thank you for your attentive service - you really made our evening in San Jose special.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

La Esquina de Buenos Aires did not live up to our expectations based on online reviews and other recommendations. The steak was mediocre; Colorado steaks are much better which surprised us. The waiter was not very attentive. We were quite disappointed and do not recommend it.

“I´ve been at La Esquina many times already, and I´ll visit many more times in the future”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014

Consistency is a good word to describe La Esquina de Buenos Aires. This restaurant will give you consistent good service, consistent good food and a consistent Argentinean, tango-intensive athmosphere. No wonder why it is the most popular Argentinean grill in San Jose.

Important: Make sure to make a reservation if you´re going for dinner, as this place is very popular among tourists and locals.
