This was our first stop...just 2 ladies taking a restful trip to Tahiti after saying we would make the trip after Australia in the late 1980s. We spent 2 nights with 2 1/2 days of peace and quiet. The water was very relaxing just a few feet away from the pool area...even though rough on both days it was a joy to look and listen to. Walking in the water was just find for me with water shoes on but I could not do much more because of the current being so rough. The beach was more than a 15 minute walk....long road but not bad. Very enjoyable and water was just fantastic. I did not use the bikes...seem to be a little to old for me...but others did. The walk was better for me....dogs are plentiful but if you don't look at them....you are okay I guess. Something about the islands like this....stray dogs everywhere. Elizabeth and Jean were great host...we did not eat with them in the evenings...usually was out in the day and by the time we returned already had eaten because their food was prepared for late eating and I don't eat after 7pm. They understood and gave me suggestion of a restaurant pretty much next door. The dogs were very good and welcomed us home after being gone all day...enjoy me playing with them and frizby??
Had the single room upstairs over their place because originally I was traveling alone...then after plans changed...they gave a small bed. The room was clean, well decorated with nice pictures and mattress was comfortable. Bathroom was decorated in wood and stone...very nice and I loved the shower. There was a porch from the room which was as big as the room....very nice breezy and good for laying out the luggage, which we used for that and relaxing in the chaise lounge. If I make another visit I would love to stay in the bungalows....I did look inside after they were vacated...and very nicely decorated and spacious. She was at full capacity when we were there and I would imagine, it is this way all the time. I just wish I knew about the distance away from everything before booking...would have planned to get a scooter or something before arrival...not much time to do it on the 1st day. So if you can drive a manual car....rent a car to stay there or scooter.....those old bikes may not be reliable to do a lot of riding...to the beach is okay but much further is questionable. Backpacker would enjoy the walk as I saw some of the couples do. Great place and would recommend it to anyone wanting the local flavor and not a hotel....you would miss the authenicity of the french environment. I do not speak french but did not need to.
