Tamanu lived up to and beyond all expectations. We chose a bungalow on the beach front which was 20 paces from the sea and close to the outdoor dining area. Nothing was too much trouble for the cheerful caring staff. Organised our activities without charge- tours and pick ups. Our rooms were gorgeous and spacious, cleaning was perfect everyday. Free use of kayaks and push bikes (no gears but still had plenty of fun on them!). Small swimming pool in the garden. The snorkelling right in front of the resort is good, or you can paddle on a kayak to deeper water, both experiences being great. The lagoon is full of colourful fish. The breakfast (complimentary) was basic, if you were early enough the fresh passionfruit were my highlight. Not plentiful at this time of the year it seemed. Food was excellent, good menu. Only downside is the internet-expect slow variable connection. Aitutaki is still a hidden gem, quiet compared with Rarotonga and I hope the locals keep the island from being over run, they are successfully achieving a lovely balance presently. Already planning to return!

Room Tip: Costs more, but the beach front are gorgeous

Being that this was certainly one of the cheaper resorts in Aitutaki we weren't really sure what to expect, but as soon as we got there we knew we had made the right decision! We spent 3 nights here (not enough!) relaxing and it was just fantastic! We had a 1 bedroom villa which was huge and had a great verandah with day bed and amazing lagoon view. The pools are both quite small, but with only a small number of rooms in the resort, and such an amazing beach this didn't matter at all. We really enjoyed taking out a kayak to explore the lagoon (and nearby resorts :)). My only small complaint would be that the breakfast was quite basic but that wasn't a big issue for us. Overall it was a fantastic stay and we didn't want to leave!

the location of the resort was picturesque, right on a beautiful beach, and there is a pool to rinse off in after you have been to the beach. Kayaks, bicycles etc available free of charge. bungalows very spacious, clean and with all amenities you require. the staff were friendly and helpful. nothing was too much trouble for them to organise. Island night was full of traditional, entertaining dancing and food.
Loved the fact that there were no children too.

Room Tip: all the rooms ideal

We spent three nights here and thought the resort was beautiful. The first impression of our room was lovely with fresh flowers on the table and on the bed a lovely touch. The front desk staff were more than happy to help us with tour arrangements and even though our first one was cancelled due to windy conditions they quickly arranged another one for us on the same day. The island barbecue night was well worth it with plenty of food and lots of choice although dessert was a little disappointing. Not much and little variety. Breakfasts were adequate but basic. Our room was beautiful, very clean and well serviced although we seemed to have a problem with our shower. The water repeatedly went cold. We did report it and they replaced the shower head but the problem of cold showers did not. Lucky the weather was warm!
All in all, this is a lovely resort. The staff are helpful but are not in your face, they seem to keep quietly in the distance but do a great job. The grounds are immaculate.and even the little cat who makes himself at home at your unit door is a lovely homely touch. Thank you to all at Tamanu. We would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: All rooms have lovely outlooks.

We have just returned from a glorious weekend in Aitutaki, where we had a relaxing getaway weekend.
We had a beachfront room with wonderful views of the beautiful lagoon.
Its so quiet here ..you feel like you are the only two people on the island.(no childrens a bonus)
We hired a bike and went out to lunch both days and then came back and enjoyed our little spot of paradise.
The meals at the resort are of a very high standard we were impressed at both the quality and quantity.
The staff were all very pleasant and obliging.
We will be back ...sooner than later

Room Tip: All the rooms are superb...

Just home today after 4 wonderful days at Tamanu Beach. Had Unit 111 at front of complex just a few steps to the beautiful beach and wonderful sunsets. Staff were very obliging and lovely leis were given on both arrival and departure. We checked out several other resorts while on the island and think Tamanu is the best value for money and in the best position on the island. Bikes could do with a bit of maintenance but we hired a car and explored this unspoilt tropical island. Would love to return to enjoy more Tamanu hospitality.
