“Great Relaxing Holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2013

After arriving and discovering there had been a mix up with our arrival dates the Staff of Tamanu could not have done more. What an experience! No room available so up graded to a boutique hotel down the road for a night at Tamanu's expense and then upgraded to a Beachfront Villa on our return to Tamanu at their expense for the remainder of our stay. They were extremely apologetic, helpful and friendly and we did not know who's fault the mix up was. I would highly recommend staying at Tamanu again. A great location close to great places to eat, great snorkling and beach and happy and friendly staff. Roosters a classic Cook Island experience and added to the atmosphere. Loved every minute.

Room Tip: New rooms are better and beach front worth it.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and have nothing but good things to say.

The location, scenery, food, service, amenities, you name it, were fantastic. If I ever come back to Aitutaki this is where I'll stay.

The only knock is the roosters on your porch crowing at 6am on the dot every day. If you had a few too many the night before, it's not the best way to wake up!

Tamanu Resort was host to the 25th Anniversary conference for Virtues Project International. The staff treated us like treasured family, the chef produced creative, delicious and plentiful buffets, Island Night was the best I have seen in the Pacific with authentic polynesian dancing and fire dances. Prices were reasonable for comfortable, cool guest bungalows, and the beach and lagoon swimming is exquisite. Management went the extra mile with every need we had. A fabulous place for a holiday on beautiful Aitutaki.

While not directly on the lagoon, it is secluded and sheltered which we enjoyed. The place is relaxed luxury, with an intimacy you don't get at a bigger resort, you really know where you are. There is also a number of other restraunts walking distance though taxi can be arranged. The whole reason for going to Atitaiki is the lagoon so make sure you book a day trip, we highly recommend Bishops as they have use of an Island and have a delicious BBQ lunch, they also drop you off on the sandbar 'heaven' so you can walk over to the Island for lunch which was the highlight of the holidays for us. The staff were very helpful.

Room Tip: If you can request a villa on the beach, however all have nice aspects.

Came here for Sunday night Barbecue on the beach. Was really dissapointed with food. Tinned beetroot!!!???? Staying on a tropical island expected some nice local food. Dessert was no better with tinned fruit salad!!!??? Very expensive for what we received.

Beautiful location. Our booking was with a garden view but we also had a fantastic vista - beach and reefs. Warmly welcomed and taken to our accommodation by electric cart. Location was great - part way between the airport and the man village.
We ate at the restaurant and found it great. Highly recommend the cajun tuna - a real taste treat.
Had a wonderful time.

Room Tip: Get one with a lagoon view

My wife and I recently stayed five nights. Overall it was an enjoyable stay, the staff was for the most part very accommodating and responsive. The room was pleasant and clean (except a funky smell from the loo) although there was a daily problem with hot water (lack thereof). As we are cat people, the resident felines were not a bother. The same cannot be said for the rooster population however!!! The garden, pool and beach areas were beautiful and the kayaks and snorkeling opportunity wonderful. I have commented separately on the restaurant, I was not impressed, I believe they could do much better in that regard.
