“Great value!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2013

I didn't choose Rino's but was booked in through my job. However, no complaints!! I was surprised they serviced my room daily as I wasn't expecting it. Rino is very helpful and cheerful- nothing is too much to ask. Ask him for advice on anything.

I stayed in Room 5 and think it's possibly the best room (after the honeymoon suite). It has clear glass sliding door with fly screen to the lagoon view whereas room 6 and 7 have aircon but no clear glass for the view and no fly screen. There is a ceiling fan and portable fan- more than adequate. It has a King bed and single bed, dining table, couch and the covered balcony also has a dining table with view to lagoon and a comfy day bed. It has a stove top and enough pots etc to cook meals, full fridge/freezer. There was always hot water with decent water pressure.

Nice touches are the fruit basket- great for brekkie, and the fresh flowers. Check out Rino's wife's greenhouse- great plants!

You can walk into town- Rino also has rental cars and scooters- not the top of the range but more than adequate. It's best to catch the market early in the morning. There is also a woman that sells free range eggs (only by the dozen) a few doors down. Bring supplies from Rarotonga otherwise especially alcohol and other food you might need as limited and expensive to buy in Aitutaki. Room 5 also has WIFI hotspot available. You can purchase extra wifi time in town at Telecom.

I didn't swim there as didn't have a chance to, but at the end of the old runway.

There are lots of other nicer/flasher resorts around but if you need value for money, this is the place. You can visit the flash places for a drink or meal.

Room Tip: Room 5!! See my review as to why

Where do I start...
My family and I stayed at Rino's for two weeks but changed our flights to leave two days early because of the discomfort of staying somewhere that made us feel unwelcomed.
Firstly the staff were rude, generally unwilling to help and tried to overcharge us for certain services that were already included and paid for.
The rooms had cockroaches in them and did not have the required bedding arrangements in place that had been promised and paid for which was very inconvenient with young children to organise, we also hired a car through Rino's which was filthy on the inside, stank, and was unserviced. Staff were unapologetic and despite the place being almost empty there was no offer of an upgrade to a better room. There was no hot water during the last week there. I strongly regret staying there and would never stay there again or recommend it to anyone who seeks to stay somewhere with good service and value for money.

We booked Rino's on short notice for a long weekend (3 days/3 nights) to celebrate my husband's birthday. Rino's surprised us with an upgrade to the beachfront unit and a huge delicious birthday cake on behalf of their staff.
The room was spacious, the bed extraordinary comfortable and the staff extremely friendly and helpful with sorting out dive trip and lagoon cruise on the spot.
The rest is already said by other reviewers: stunning views, beautiful garden, conveniently located with shops, restaurants, ATM ion etc near by, even walking distance, though I recommend to explore Aitutaki on scooter!

I stayed at Rino's for 3 weeks recently and found it to be very comfortable and clean with great views of the sunset. The beach is dug out a bit so you can swim. Great balcony for breakfast/dinner on beachfront room and handy to town. Welcomed with a nice fruit bowl. Hot water is solar so best at night. I would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: Beachfront have best views and great balcony with a day bed too

Eleven June-July visits from Australia in 15 years just about says it all, doesn’t it? Rino’s is not a 5-star hotel and doesn’t claim to be, but it’s clean and comfortable and the owners and staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
We’ve stayed in all the rooms and, as the prices indicate, the beachfront ones are certainly the best. But all are spacious and well set-up, and none is more than 50 metres from the lagoon. The new shop just over the road is very handy, but of course part of Aitutaki’s charm is being able to use a scooter or car hired on-site to visit the different little stores dotted around the island.
The lagoon cruises available from many of the local operators are well worthwhile, but just walking along the beach and meeting and chatting to fishermen can be a highlight. Even just sitting on the large verandah watching yachts arrive and leave is very restful.
It’s a great central base for either a quiet restful time or visiting any of the island-nights and/or restaurants.

Room Tip: Beachfront best if you're spending lots of time there. Others quite OK if just using Rino's...

We stayed in the upstairs garden room units in June 2012 to go kiteboarding in the Aitutaki lagoon..
Units are simple, clean and adequate with a good comfortable bed and basic kitchen implements....microwave, utensils, hotplates, pots pans etc...
Bathroom again basic but totally adequate...though a bit more shower pressure would be nice!
Everything was clean and tidy; staff serviced the units every day, they were always happy to take us in the truck to the wharf to catch the boat, papaya were given to us and we loved the bananas hanging in the garage! Rino waters his flowers in the evening and is forever cleaning aup and tidying the yard (he pumped up Max's flat rear tyre on her scooter one morning without even mentioning it....we appreciated that).
So, basic, comfortable, on the lagoon, great sunsets, great staff, nothing any problem, a store across the road for supplies, easy walking distance to 'town' and the wharf.....though I recommend Rino's scooters for lots of fun!
Don't expect the Ritz..it ain't!
But its good value for what we paid...and we're going back in August!

Room Tip: Lagoon front is the nicest, elevated rooms have a view over the top though!

My friend and I required one night's accommodation at short notice when the cottage we were staying at next to Rino's became double-booked. We moved into a spacious upstairs unit in the older block at the rear of the property soon after the previous guests had departed on the first flight. Rino ensured our room was cleaned and immediately available so we could transfer our belongings then head out for the day to visit friends and family on Aitutaki.

We also hired a scooter from Rino and were treated to the newest bike in the fleet. Petrol costs were very economical and the scooter was easy to operate, and well maintained. Rino's is in a great location being handy to small food stores, and 4 takeaways in the Amuri - Arutanga (main township) area. I strolled to the Fishing Club with the aid of a torch, and this exercise was straight-forward using the wide road verges that Aitutaki has retained. My friend remained at our accommodation for an early night to catch up on much needed sleep after our numerous adventures at sea, and on Aitutaki during the previous 3 days. Sadly, our departure from Rino's and Aitutaki island occurred the following morning. We will definitely be making a return visit early 2011. Many thanks to Rino and staff for your outstanding hospitality and genuine care of your guests comfort, relaxation and enjoyment.
