Being work colleagues from Christchurch N.Z. We 2 girls were so looking forward to a completely relaxing and stress-free time in Aitutaki to forget about work and stressed Quake city. Etu Moana was an excellent choice by agent. We felt pampered and cared-for by Karen (relieving Manager) and all the girls! So appreciated floral welcome, on pick-up at airport, Karen's very personal welcome, tour of bar and pool area, coconut drink and floral arrangement on check-in. We loved Villa 5 with the garden, pool and lagoon view in distance. Enjoyed the free bikes to look around, kayaks, loungers to enjoy the most amazing sunsets! Loved the breakfasts by the pool, which was a favourite place during our stay. Villa is well equipped and was a 'home-away-from-home'. Enjoyed videos in evenings. A lovely final 'touch' by Karen, was a surprise iced bottle of bubbles to enjoy on our balcony on last evening, along with a lovely personal message! Two points I would agree with other reviewers is 'take food' and a 'strong anti-insect spray'!! Also use the umbrella's at reception as shade from sun if out walking.
Lagoon cruise is The Highlight of a visit to Aitutaki!!! - This was my 3rd visit to Aitutaki, but first of many more stay-overs! Soo relaxed on departure, not wanting to leave! So thank you again Karen and The Team! See you next time!

Chose this venue based on the reviews of accommodation from TA and although struck by the high cost thought that we would treat ourselves and hopefully guarantee a good standard of accommodation. We didnt want to be in an dream destination but find ourselves in accommodation that was poor. We booked well in advance one of the villas that was near the reception area for a 2 night stay. It wasnt as expensive as the beachside ones and it was only seconds away in walking distance. It was also smart of the builders that they fantailed out the units so they all have a view of the water. And overall the standard of the villas was excellent.

As part of the stay we were met at the airport and then on arrival both Lucille and Tim the managers came out and personally introduced themselves and showed us all the features of the villas and the estate.

The Etu had lots of nice touches that meant you could stop and relax on site- a small pool, the honesty box for drinks etc from the bar pool. Books. Umberellas if it rains. Kayaks on the beach. Bikes ( although the brakes were gone on the ones we had- perhaps well overdue for a full service). Etu is ideal if you want a hideaway stay, there is only a small breakfeast supplied but you could bring your own supplies and self cater. If you travel out in the evening to a hotel for dinner remember to take a torch as there is very little street lighting.

We had organised in advance an all day tour of the islands around the lagoon. To see the landscape, the water, the sands etc was truly memorable. As others also say you do have to visit more than one island to fully experience the Cooks. However there is another side to nature-we did find that the biting insects once inland were extremely aggressive. This is after having experiences of midges in Scotland, travelling in Borneo jungles etc. The local people did not look affected by them at all!. I however did leave with limbs that looked like they had been hit by buckshot.

If you are looking for quality accommodation surrounded by small quiet gardens and only a few other guests to interact with then give Etu Moana serious consideration.

We were greeted at the airport with a fragrantly perfumed gardenia garland by the villa staff of Etu Moana and this beautiful gesture set the tone for our stay there.

We were delighted to be given a double upgrade which meant we had a picture postcard perfect view onto the beach and turquoise lagoon beyond. The villas themselves are constructed using traditional materials which means they do not overheat, and there are also mesh screens, something we very much appreciated as we are reluctant AC users. Breakfast is delicious and served around the pool area and such is the consideration of the staff that, if like us you oversleep, a member of staff will telephone to ask if you would like breakfast in your room. We also found that reception staff made excellent recommendations for dinners, island nights, scooter/car hire and lagoon cruises

Etu Moana is perfect in every way and perfectly situated on a perfect island!

I remember taking one of the free canoes out into the shallow green lagoon to see the sun set into the water; the wild cockerals crowing; the nice pool; the friendly staff .... cottages are spacious if slightly dark, the atmosphere is pure relaxation.

This was our third time at Etu Moana. Every stay here is wonderful and this was no exception. It was a pleasure to meet Tim and Lucille. They are doing a wonderful job running the place. We had originally booked for villa 8 (garden and lagoon view) but due to a maintenance issue we were upgraded to villa 2 (beach view). This was a very nice surprise and it was kind of them to let us stay in that villa for the entire time. Having said that, all the villas still make for a special vacation in Aitutaki.

We went on two different lagoon trips whilst in Aitutaki. They are by far the main reason we keep returning to this magical island. We have reviewed them separately.

We can’t thank Tim, Lucile and the rest of the Etu Moana staff for another fantastic stay. Hope to be back soon.

Stayed as a couple at etu moana two weeks ago and couldn't fault anything. We started in villa 4 which was great with a view of the sea and then stayed in villa 10 which is absolute beachfront and it was perfect . All villas are the same but the absolute beachfront ones are the best, you have a great view of the sea from your bed, what more can anyone want ! villas 3&4 are great too. Villa 10 was the most private . After saying all that it was the people of etu moana and aitutaki that made our holiday so special. A special mention to lucile and tim , the managers , who were so friendly and accomodating. , I spent my birthday there and after returning from a massage at the pacific resort i was greeted with a bottle of champagne complimentary of the managers. It is those special little touches that made etu moana extra special.I started my holiday stressed, couldn't sleep and left rested and sleep pattern back to normal. I would highly recommend etu moana to anyone . We will be back. Ps. Don't forget to bring the strongest mosquito spray you can find as they will have a feast of you otherwise...

Room Tip: Villa 4 or villa 10
