Kenai Lake Escape

I had an engineering consulting assignment in the area and was very lucky to find this place. Kenai Lake Escape is a full-service lodge with personalized service and menus. If you are fishing the Kenai or just looking for a quiet retreat, this is the best! A home-like atmosphere and good conversation. The owner, Arden Rankins, is a great resource for information on the area and the best fishing guides. Full kitchen facilities are available, so you can cook your own meals, but you won't want to miss the great food (especially Arden's secret recipe for halibut)

The local trout fishing is legendary and the scenery is beatiful. A great place for a winter-time retreat or snow fun.

Room Tip: You have your choice of a single room or a whole floor, with full kitchen and large central room for...

My recent stay at Kenai Lake Escape totally blew my expectations I knew Cooper Landing, Alaska was going to be amazing and the trout fishing off the chart. However, my stay at KenaI Lake Escape made the entire trip awesome. Arden (Host/owner) totally created personalize menus of Alaskan fare that everyone in my group loved. Her lodge is filled with many Alaskan treasures and local artwork. Very quiet, clean and organized. Made our trip easy, enjoyable and relaxing. We will be back. Oh...and the trout fishing WAS off the chart!

Room Tip: The main suite had everything we needed for our group. Our private kitchen was set up for a large g...

If you plan to fish the upper or middle Kenai River areas, check to see if Arden Rankins has a vacancy here and if meals are available also during your stay, as she is a great cook. If you prefer to do your own cooking, there is a complete kitchen in the first floor area along with three or four bedrooms. She can book or direct you to some of the best fishing guides in the area also. If you are interested in hunting stories, ask if her dad, Big Bill Rankins, will be around. He guided in BC & Africa for many years and is quite entertaining. You can find more expensive or fancier lodges, but none more welcoming.

Room Tip: For groups of four or more the downstairs area is more private & ideal.
