We found this lovely combo by accident as we were looking for a pit stop to sit out the rain.

This is two businesses that have formed a perfect pairing. The Game Fishing Club provides all day Happy Hour pricing ($5 wine $3.50 beers & Spirits). We had the Pinot Gris and Sav Blanc - both NZ both excellent.

We sat on the sheltered patio which has a lovely view - and walked down to the beach in between glasses and found some interesting coral pieces. And of course were joined by a few chickens and roosters - though they kept their distance even when we were eating. Very polite poultry.

We split a fish and chips - they served albacore that day. We found it just enough to be satisfied but allowed us to get back on our bikes and peddle the 6 km back to our home. The tartar sauce was the best I've had - and the fish was perfectly done.

We've been back once for a happy hour drink and will be back again!

Also - on our second trip we had some fresh and frozen meat we picked up and the lovely bar tender let us store it in the freezer so we could relax and not rush. And she replaced a glass of wine free of charge when we had some over-zealous picture taking and accidentally smashed one of our glasses. Very nice people running this operation!

Thank Mandy M

This old boat converted to a takeaway produces some great food. The fish we had was Marlin, so tasty it was glorious and the chips well cooked. Prices were reasonable.

just a little place downtown, beside the sea. takeaway or eat at the picnic tables - they'll put it on a plate and add a salad for no extra charge

Excellent combination of local seafood and cheap beer! We were staying at a Resort a few meters from the Fishing Club so it was a compulsory visit at night for happy hour!
