Owner description: WELCOME TO MARLIN QUEEN FISHING CHARTERS!Serious about Big Game Fishing? Great so are we!Fishing aboard Marlin Queen is the ultimate game fishing experience in Rarotonga, Cook Islands. A successful blend of Rarotonga's best known and most trusted Captain (Junior) with a purpose built deep sea boat means a day out on the ocean doesn't get any better! We work extra hard to make sure your fishing trip is an unforgettable experience! Rain, hail or shine - we go fishing! If it's your dream to catch big fish, you will not find a more dedicated team to help you do it! As soon as you leave the Avatiu Harbour the water gets very deep, very quickly so no time is wasted in getting those lures into the water to find the "Big Ones". Sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular view of the island in a safe and relaxed atmosphere - unless of course you are on our "early bird" trip which leaves at 6am (and it's still dark) to the FAD's to meet the Yellow Fin Tuna when they rise for feeding. The early bird catches the worm - and so do we! The fishing in Rarotonga is great all year round and our well equipped boat has everything you will need. Whether you're a novice or experienced angler your enjoyment is guaranteed. We provide refreshments, snacks, comprehensive safety equipment, flush toilet and use the latest Shimano fishing gear. Captain Junior is famous for making his own lures - guaranteed to attract the Big Ones! Shared and private charters are available and you can choose whether you want to fish for a 1/2 day or full day. Our minimum is one person and for larger groups (over 10) we will organise your own "inter-boat" fishing competition, loads of fun for the competitive at heart. Want the "Ultimate Fishing Holiday"? We specialise in complete fishing, accommodation and transport packages, tailor-made to suit your individual or group requirements. We have a great range of accommodation and transport options to suit your every need and budget, so sit back, relax and let us organise your dream fishing holiday. I have done heaps of Big Game Fishing all over the world and The Marlin Queen, skippered by Junior and crewed by Tom is definitely up there with the "best of the best". Junior and Tom have been fishing all their lives, probably every day, they are super passionate about catching fish, and having a bit of fun along the way. The safety briefing they give is probably where Air New Zealand got their ideas from, very entertaining but also very good. They have the best equipment money can buy and maintain it really well and the boat is perfectly set up too. So if you want an experience to remember, get on board the Marlin Queen.
We caught some good fish, saw whales and had some good laughs along the way. We picked up some Tuna around the FAD, hunted down Mahi-Mahi and then targeted Wahoo and Tuna along the back of the reef.
I will definitely be booking again to go out a couple of times next time I am in The Cook Islands. See you soon guys.

Thank Bruce A

Booked prior to departing Auckland, Di and Junior provided plenty of options for the days we were available to fish, 1/2 day or full day, private charter or individual mixed party charter. My 15yr old Daughter and I chose a half day (morning charter), mixed party.
We were advised to check in on arrival in Raro to keep abreast of the weather should an alternative day be required.
600am departure (early fisho gets the best fish and the reest of the day to brag). Di offered pick up. All fishing gear provided as well as a lunch and snacks plus bottled water. Bring your own camera, wind jacket and don't forget to pre take any motion sickness medication well before your trip...you are out in the ocean.
Captain Junior and deckie Brendon kept a well organised and safe boat. Brendon demonstrated how they rigged deadbait flying fish as well as lures for our target fish Wahoo and Mahimahi.
Fishing gear was in good condition as well as a good quality Black Magic harness & gimbal.
Junior was very active picking up any bird activity and locating Mahimahi feeding, resulting in an immediate hook-up.
Good instruction on rod and reel use as well as safety first when boating the fish.
We were offered all the fillet we could eat from the fish caught. Great morning trolling, plenty of hook-ups, and a bonus hand feeding the GT (Giant Trevally) back at the dock when filleting the fish.
Friendly people, must do for novice or experienced fisho's.

Captain Junior took us out with Teoni as deckhand. Diane met us at the wharf and I found that we had six anglers on board, which is too many, and as it turned out only two anglers got to feel the fun of landing a fish. In five hours it is difficult to get a turn with that many anglers, even if there are multiple strikes the skipper supervises any strikes before you get handed the rod. lt then takes time to get the rods ready for action again. Cannot fault the knowledge and professionalism of Junior and Teoni though.
We caught two Wahoo which was exciting and had a Mahi Mahi but it managed to slip the hook. But I still thought wow we will still get to take a good bag full of fish each home as Junior had told me that any fish caught was shared between the people on board, and it was shared, one Wahoo filleted and shared between the six paying fisherman and other Wahoo between Junior and Teoni. This I felt was very unfair, but they had other businesses they needed the fish for ... good way to keep the overheads to a minimum. Fun day but could have been better.
Our trip was Thursday 10 July.

My husband went out twice with Marlin queen, tried to get out a 3 rd time but it was cancelled due to weather. He could not fault it at all and he said it was the best fishing charter he has ever been on.

The first trip he went on was part of a shared charter, he was picked up on time and taken down to the harbour. Marlin queen provided snacks of ham and salad rolls and then the fun began. He caught a large Mahi Mahi of which was the highlight of his whole experience on rarotonga. He also caught a sizeable tuna. He was offered a choice of fish to bring back which also included part of a wahoo that had been caught. There was nothing better than having fresh fish for launch in between fresh bread rolls for lunch.

The 2nd trip out was part of a bucks night so was an afternoon trip. It took several hours for them to find some fish but eventually they did and my husband was again fortunate to catch another Mahi Mahi.

At the end of the trip they gave us so much fish that we had enough for over 20 of us for dinner and also had it for lunch a cple,of days later. We ended up giving a lot of it to the restaurant where we were staying as there was just too much for us to eat. Recommend marlin queen and he wishes he was still there to do it all again.

We organized a half day trip with Marlin Queen via their web site, Dianne and Junior were nothing but professional and extremely accommodating with our enquiries, As Dianne had advised, we made contact with her upon arrival in Rarotonga to discuss our upcoming charter. After a lovely stroll around the Saturday Market we meet up with her at the wharf. The instant we meet Di and her crew we were instantly made right at home, as we chatted they casually feed some of the biggest G.T's we have every seen.
The fishing trip was planned for Monday 16th June, Dianne very kindly offered to collect us at 4.50am to take us down to the wharf. Our crew was Skipper "Teoni" and deck hand "Keti" along with our 2 very keen fishermen and 2 very excited teenagers. Right from the get go Teoni and Keti flew into action, lines and rods were set ready. Chilly bin was full of beautiful treats.
A very successful fishing trip, they got a triple strike of Mahi Mahi the weights ranged from 10 to 20kgs. We must say a special thanks to Teoni and Keti they never once took their eyes off our younger fishermen, thank you for been so caring. We were given a generous amount of fish to take home to feast on and by golly Mahi Mahi is now a family favourite. We would not hesitate to recommend Dianne and Junior and their amazing crew at Marlin Queen to anybody that is wanting a great fishing trip 100 % genuine people. Thanks once again Marlin Crew. Jo
