Have previously stayed at a couple of resorts on the Island but this time went for a self-contained less expensive option and discovered Ariana Bungalows, Kylie and Marshall's little piece of paradise. They are a great couple, laid-back, but hard working at providing guests with a great experience. From pickup at the airport to supplies of fresh coconut pawpaw and banana, to advise on where to eat and attractions, couldn't ask for better.
The bungalows are simple with lounge/well-equipped kitchen, separate bathroom with shower, separate bedroom. The bedroom and lounge have pedastle fans but not really needed as even though temps were in the high 20s all doors and windows are fly-screened so able to get the natural cooling breeze without any Mozzetta issues. (Also had two resident geckos to help with insect control). Chickens and their chicks and rooster "Teenager" a couple of cats, and "Taxi" the house dog completed the menagerie and added to the entertainment. Sparkling pool great communal BBQ and location close to a 24 hr mini-mart/gas station were well utilized.
Overall a great choice for our first taste of private accommodation but certainly won't be our last visit - WE WILL BE BACK

My first time in Rarotonga, and travelled with 2 friends, who stayed in a separate unit.

Kylie & Marsh - the hosts from NZ, make this such an awesome place. They bent over backwards to make sure our stay was enjoyable, relaxing and fun. The units are all very clean, neat and tidy with everything you could ask for - especially a fan.

There are chickens and roosters wandering the lush green grass surrounding the bungalows, interspersed with the bbq area and swimming pool.

An easy 5 minute stroll up the road gets you to the Super Brown store, where delicious ice-creams can be had 24/7, as can petrol and all those other little needs. However, alcohol is not available on Sundays. The bus stop is also outside the store

Avarua is a quick 10 minute drive in one direction and in 10 minutes the other way will bring you to Muri and a fantastic swimming lagoon - as well as being home to a few Lagoon Tours.

No - this is NOT a high end all-service, all-song-and-dance multi-apartment complex, but rather an awesome private, secluded, laid-back, enjoyable and comfortable accommodation setting, where you don't fight others to get around, parking isn't a hassle, and prices are very reasonable.

Best way around the island is on a scooter - and there are bargains galore in Muri or Avarua for these....you just have to shop around for the best prices.....same as petrol costs.

Warm waters to swim in, great photo spots everywhere, relaxing accommodation & amazing hosts with fresh fruit (season dependant) growing at your doorstep. What more could anyone ask for? (You gotta try the little chillies growing around the bungalows too - just ask Marsh to point them out)

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return trip.

We were greeted by Marshall at the Airport as previously arranged. Then we met Kylie, they are so nice, with lots of knowledge about the island.
We stayed in an one bedroom bungalow, it was well cleaned, with a handy kitchenette.
We were very impressed with how clean and well maintained the place is, gardens look amazing and we were also served with passionfruit from the garden.
We definitely recommend Ariana Bungalows!
Thank you Marshall and Kylie!

Our small family spent last week at Ariana Garden Bungalows and we loved every minute. Kiwi managers Kylie and Marshall were great hosts. They were never intrusive but always available if required and went beyond our expectations. The bungalows are clean and comfortable but not fancy, the tropical gardens and grounds are immaculately maintained and the atmosphere is as chilled out as you like. We found it very relaxing just swimming in the pool, reading books and listening to music then cooking on the barbeque with a glass of something, chatting and making new friends by night. We spent a few nights in a resort before we left and then wished we'd stayed at Ariana longer instead. Ariana, Kylie and Marshall were the stars of our trip and we'll definitely be going back.

Room tip: Studios really only suitable for two although we managed with three. Go for one of the two room bungalows if a family.

Imho this place is lovely. The bungalows are with no fancy frills but with everything you need and very spacious, the garden is very nice and the area one of the best of the island, far from the chaos and with picturesque valleys behind. The prices are great and i'm sure that I could not have wished for better. You need a car or a scooter.
