Owner description: Reachable by hiking trail or four-wheel vehicle, Rarotonga's only fall is also known as Papua Waterfall, because water from the Papua stream spills down the cliff into a beautiful swimming hole.

But bring your bug repellant. The mosquitos are HUNGRY! The water was nice and you could swim in it if you'd like

Looking forward to checking out this waterfall. After hiring a scooter we rode up and were disappointed. Not much point going there unless there is a huge down pour and then it would be to wet to get there. So you just have to put up with a trickle. There was rubbish and mosquitoes. I feel sorry for all the people we saw walking up there

We were unlucky that after a week with no rain on the island the waterfall was more of a large wet rock. There was beautiful clear water that looked good enough to swim in but we got eaten alive by mozzies, and left pretty quickly. Rubbish bins hadn't been emptied in a while and there was litter around the seating area.
Wait for a good few days of rain before taking the bumpy trip up the road and lather yourself head to toe in repellant! For us the itchy bites we were nursing for days was not worth the hype!

If visiting after its been raining - remember to spray for mosquitoes - got bitten alive!!! The road up to the parking area needs to be maintained - watch out for the pot holes!

We were lucky it had rained the last few days so the waterfall was in full force. Nice walk up the road. Just a destination really as we are spoilt in NZ with our waterfalls. Could have swam here but it was raining and there are lots of mozzies. Had an interesting detour on the way poking around in the abandoned Sheraton Hotel. Very interesting. This is just at the start of the walk to the waterfall.
