“We really enjoyed our stay here”

The place is clean, well maintained and quiet, but you have to keep in mind that this is not a hotel. Becky, the owner, is not always around but you will always have Kanji who lives just across the street and will try help you in anything you need.

They will pick you up at the airport or port but be sure you call them in advance, otherwise you will have to wait.
They also have a rental car company which is very useful if you did not bring your car over there.

When we finally met Becky and she realized she had made some minor mistakes with us, she apologized and gave us a discount (room and rental car rates.)

We would definitely stay there in our next trip to Cordova.

Cordova is a beautiful place and well worth going to, especially if you are outdoor people. We spent 3 full days there and had a great time. Just be prepared for expensive dining so being able to cook is great if you want to do it.

Northern Nights Inn was great as well. Very comfortable and convenient. Becky has decorated the rooms to feel like home, and a little funky. It was great and we loved it.

We stayed in Room 3 which was basically a decent sized apartment with a full kitchen, living room, and bedroom. Could sleep 4-5 people, comfortably.

The kitchen came with a real coffeemaker, decent stove, pots, pans, plates, silverware, cooking utensils, plastic storage utensils.

The living room had a wide screen TV, VCR, and DVD player, a sleeper sofa, another bed, and a recliner. The bedroom had a queen sized bed.

There are two sets of washing machines and driers in the basement.

Just make sure you are clear about how to find the place and how to get in. We had some confusion about the day of our arrival (our fault) and it was hard to reach Becky right at the moment. So confirm with her a few days before and you'll be golden.

Room Tip: Get one of the rooms with a full kitchen.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon trip through Alaska. The house is old, but that's what makes it unique and charming. We stayed in the Whistlestop Room upstairs and LOVED our room. It was so charming. The bed was comfortable and there was a t.v., microwave and small refrigerator in the room. The bathroom was also big enough for two people to move around comfortably. Next to the shower there is a small bench/sitting area. Shower had hot water and good water pressure. You can tell they had recently renovated the room and put a lot of thought into it. As far as the staff, I would have to agree with the other reviewers about the family not being around a lot. Luckily, we didn't really need much help so it didn't bother us. We went about and did our thing and they pretty much did their thing. Apparently, the family that owns the inn also owns other property in cordova along with the rental car business so I think they might be spreading themselves too thinly. In terms of the actual town, Cordova is a unique town. It has it's own vibe and it's off the beaten path. One thing I would STRONGLY recommend if you decide to go to Cordova is to stock up on basic items before coming here i.e. water, coffee, bread, etc. Prices at the grocery store are unbelievable!! Case of water $15, Folgers coffee $8, Blue Bunny ice cream $24, etc. We took pictures at the grocery store because we were in such sticker shock.

First impressions as you pull up to this lodging is “what have we booked ourselves into”. However, after getting situated in to the accommodations (we had the Trestle room) we found them amenable. We did have to wait a bit for the owner to arrive. She seemed pleasant enough but we did not have much interaction after the introduction. We had a separate kitchen stocked with dishes. The room had an individual bathroom with plenty of storage space for your toiletries. The house is old, so the floors creak and noise could be a problem with a large family. The view of the bay is obscured by spruce trees. Breakfast is not provided in any shape or form other than a long ago open bag of cereal and somewhat stale coffee. There is no daily service for towel or bed make up. However, towel exchange was provided upon request. Obviously, no aircon, this is Alaska. They did have WIFI internet access available for those with laptops. I would not rule out staying here again since options are limited in Cordova. But I would also look elsewhere first for a bit more room freshness that included breakfast.

Our room was fine; upstair and a small view if you looked out the window;; we barely saw the people but luckily a young girl was there when we arrived and she said the room was ready. When we did meet Becky she was very pleasant. The price was good @ $75; we opted for the smaller room and it was pleasant.
Cordova is lovely and maybe like the real Alaska; restaurants in town were very good esp the Mexican one by the food store and the one right at the airport; Moose caboose I think. mc

Cordova is a fascinating town, a great base for the Childs Glacier and to get an insight into more of the real Alaska. Unfortunately, the friendly people of the town do not seem to have had any influence on the Northern Nights Inn. When we arrived, there was no one at home so we had to wait around 45 minutes before anyone arrived. When we did introduce ourselves, the owners (father and daughter) looked at us as if to question what we were doing there. Other than to check our name in his diary, the father barely spoke and just sent his teenage daughter along to show us to our room.

There was no sign of anyone for the rest of our two night stay, so we were concerned about how to leave our credit card details. Not to worry; just as we were leaving, another owner (a lady we had not seen before) drove up and asked for our details quite abruptly. We felt as if we had been a hinderance more than anything and this was not helpled by the fact that the bathroom was not cleaned or the beds made while we were there.

Thankfully the room itself was clean and nicely furnished. We just wished that more of a welcome was made to us as it marred our experience of Cordova.

Can summerize by saying this is our tenth year at Becky's Northern Nights. We go for salmon and the beauty and small town charm of Cordova. People are both friendly and helpful. The Inn is very comfortable with all the necessities and the cost is reasonable.
Additionally, it's now possible to also get a car through Becky-which reduces hassle time. We come and go during our stay (rather than simply blocking out a straight week for instance) and Becky accomodates us which proves she (and Kayln) have a sense of humor (don't try this in the lower 48).
