“nice room but no interaction w staff”
Reviewed 4 July 2007

Our room was fine; upstair and a small view if you looked out the window;; we barely saw the people but luckily a young girl was there when we arrived and she said the room was ready. When we did meet Becky she was very pleasant. The price was good @ $75; we opted for the smaller room and it was pleasant.
Cordova is lovely and maybe like the real Alaska; restaurants in town were very good esp the Mexican one by the food store and the one right at the airport; Moose caboose I think. mc

Cordova is a fascinating town, a great base for the Childs Glacier and to get an insight into more of the real Alaska. Unfortunately, the friendly people of the town do not seem to have had any influence on the Northern Nights Inn. When we arrived, there was no one at home so we had to wait around 45 minutes before anyone arrived. When we did introduce ourselves, the owners (father and daughter) looked at us as if to question what we were doing there. Other than to check our name in his diary, the father barely spoke and just sent his teenage daughter along to show us to our room.

There was no sign of anyone for the rest of our two night stay, so we were concerned about how to leave our credit card details. Not to worry; just as we were leaving, another owner (a lady we had not seen before) drove up and asked for our details quite abruptly. We felt as if we had been a hinderance more than anything and this was not helpled by the fact that the bathroom was not cleaned or the beds made while we were there.

Thankfully the room itself was clean and nicely furnished. We just wished that more of a welcome was made to us as it marred our experience of Cordova.

Can summerize by saying this is our tenth year at Becky's Northern Nights. We go for salmon and the beauty and small town charm of Cordova. People are both friendly and helpful. The Inn is very comfortable with all the necessities and the cost is reasonable.
Additionally, it's now possible to also get a car through Becky-which reduces hassle time. We come and go during our stay (rather than simply blocking out a straight week for instance) and Becky accomodates us which proves she (and Kayln) have a sense of humor (don't try this in the lower 48).

Wonderful Inn located near downtown. Although Cordova is a smaller community, I found the friendlieness and accomodations most enjoyable.
This property is set up with antique furniture and very comfortable beds. It was like being at home, and had a wonderful a wonderful view from my room.If I had to put in negatives, the name is somewhat misleading...Bed and Breakfast. There was never any breakfast available, and the official name on the hotel flyer states "Northern Nights Inn" so it is probably a misprint on this website. Also, it did lack daily maid service...I was there for a week and never had any type of service to make the bed or ensure the trash was taken out, but then it's just like I said...."Like being at home". My boss attempted to make a reservation for 2 nights, but they were sold out (I believe they only have 6 rooms), and was disappointed after seeing what type of accomodations I had. I was not disappointed in this property at all, and would highly recommend it to anyone!

Thanks so much for your tolerance and kind comments. Cordova is a little rough around the edges and it's not easy to manage all the "uncontrolables" (i.e. industrial setting, noisy boats & ravens, 20 hours of daylight) in our little fish camp of a town. It's visitors like you that make it all worthwhile - appreciate your business. Best Wishes - Becky .
