Even though it was cloudy and raining the view was great. There was a large seating area with booths up against the window looking out. I don't think there was anywhere in the place you could not see out. It is a cafeteria style with trays and fountain sodas. You order your food and they call your number and you get your food from the window. We got the chicken fingers and grilled cheese meals which were both awesome. All the food was fresh, crispy, and delicious. Can't beat it!

Driving to Anchorage from Homer we planned this stop for lunch atop the Alyeska Resort's tramway. The magnificent views of Turnagain Arm and several glaciers are well worth the cost of the tram ride up the mountain. The Glacier Express is a self-serve deli with good size sandwiches, soups, salads, etc., and serves beer too.
Prices are moderate and there were no crowds for lunch on a late August day. On the return trip a bear was spotted directly under the tramway and the operator said that it was a common occurrence.

We took the tram up and we had not had lunch so decided to grab a quick bite. We thought because of where we were our lunch would be of small portion sizes. My husband and I had the Fish and Chips while our kids had the chicken strips baskets. They make them to order, so they are not sitting for a long time. We got our meals and ate, not expecting as large of a meal as we received. Each of the baskets were $12.95 and did not include a drink. We were able to sit at a winder seat. The booths are HUGE and can sit 3-4 people per side. The views were spectacular. We actually were so full from lunch we didn't have an appetite for dinner that evening.

We ate here after taking the tram. The seafood chowder and sandwiches were very good. My whole family enjoyed their meal and the amazing views out the windows!

We took the cable car ride up to the top and had lunch at the glacier express. We both had turkey sandwiches which were quite good, basic, tasty, and easily satisfied our need for lunch in a very scenic surrounding. Recommended.
