“Quick get away!”
Reviewed 22 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Lynne' was an amazing hostess - She greeted me upon arrival and answered any questions I had in preparation for a relaxing evening.

Lynne' pointed me towards a trail that runs behind the cabin. The woods are moss covered, the trail rose and fell through a thick forest to a small creek.

The cabin provided all the essentials and more.

I prefer spaces that are nearly void of all other humans when I "go to the woods". The only thing that makes this stay a 4 and not a 5 is the close proximity to other residents (I had looked at map quest and it showed only 2 homes on the road).

You can tell Lynne' takes great pride and care in the rental cabin. I would absolutely recommend this cabin as a quick getaway or alternative stay if you are visiting Anchorage.

“Excellent place to stay”
Reviewed 10 April 2016 for a stay in July 2015

Spent a wonderful three days there in July. A beautiful wooded setting in a cabin with all the comforts of home. Excellent hosts made all feel welcome. Three days was not long enough to enjoy all the local attractions. Would definitely return!!

“Perfect layover on the way out of Anchorage”

We were headed to Seward after our plane landed in Anchorage. Considered staying at hotel near airport but so glad we headed on down the highway. This cabin near Girdwood was perfect. Not too far since we were tired but allowed us to see some Alaska sights on the beautiful Turnagin Arm, make some progress so we would have an easier drive the next morning AND it was just a wonderful choice in and of itself. We would have loved to have had more time to stay right there and hike. Husband and 2 grown children in addition to myself and we had plenty of room. Wonderful blueberry bread the next morning! Suited us to a T!

“Cozy Cabin a Short Drive from Town”

We only stayed here one night, but would have liked to stay longer. This cozy log cabin is rustic with a full kitchen, which would have been nice for longer stays. It is set in the woods next to the owner's cabin. The place was clean, with a small dining table, two sofas and a simple bathroom with a vanity counter, full tub with shower. She even provided coffees, teas, some condiments, etc., and although NOT a B&B, she did provide a yummy homemade blueberry cake. You do have to walk up a whole flight of stairs to enter the cabin. Also, the bedroom, with a queen bed as well as a double bed tucked under the slanted roof, can only be reached by climbing a ladder into the loft, which overlooks the living room. Thus, I wouldn't recommend it for people who might have difficulty with stairs and/or the ladder. It was a short drive into town, and at the bottom of the hill below the cabin there was a lovely walking/biking path the follows the road around. The area is great for hiking, taking the tram up Mt. Alyeska, or, skiing in the winter. It is near one of the most beautiful drives in the country, there along the Turnagain Arm, with the water on one side of the road, and snow-capped mountains on the other. Shortly after high tide, you can see pods of beluga whales!

Liked best: The location near town and the rustic cabin setting.
Liked least: Climbing the ladder to the bedroom loft, especially if you have to get up in the night to use the bathroom.

“A rustic and cozy get-away”
Reviewed 15 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Alyeska Hideaway. Fully furnished and cozy, this cabin has all the amenities including a full kitchen. A fresh-baked loaf of blueberry bread awaited us on our arrival. This was a fun summer retreat, and we hope to return again in winter, when we'll fire up the wood stove after a day of skiing. Thanks for a great time!
