“New Orleans in Alaska?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

This restaurant was recommended by an employee of ours who used to live in the area. Her recommendation was spot on..... The décor was trying to emulate New Orleans, and added a bit of flavor that was not typical Alaska.

The food was great. I lived on the Gulf coast for a few years, so I could not bring myself to try crawfish way up North. However, the Halibut and Salmon that my wife and I had were fantastic. Service was good, not great. Servers and others were friendly. Keep in mind though that this place is very, very busy and they get swamped when they open (and no reservations). We arrived 30 minutes before opening and were behind about 100 other people in line. Get there early.

Regardless of what you do, try the Double Musky Pie.....fantastic. Don't even look at the other desserts.

“Great interior decor, good service, but average tasting food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

This restaurant is located in the charming hippy town of Girdwood within a 40-minute drive from Anchorage along Turnagain Arm, a picturesque drive. Food is average tasting, the interior is darling, hard to define, appears to be in a New Orleans style. Mushroom escargot and popcorn crayfish were good but lacked the depth of Cajun flavor. Service was excellent. No reservations are accepted, a bit on a pricey side, overall an enjoyable experience.

“Good food, but...”

Once you've seen how they clean the glasses you'll enjoy the good steak only half. Shake glasses in a sink with foam-water, then twice in clear water and off they go back into the shelf. And not only the glasses came dirty but also the
plates.

“A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2014

Before leaving for Alaska a friend told us we had to eat at the Double Musky. The restaurant is about 30 miles from Anchorage in an unincorporated area and ski resort community. There is no advertising and no signage along the highway. You either know where it is, how to get there or you don't eat there. You'll often times see limos parked in front. The food is excellent, especially our favorite, French Pepper Steak, covered with a spicy burgundy sauce. Fillet is also excellent. We're beef eaters. YUM. All of the food is spicy and some can be hot or mild.Tell the server your preference. All the food is cooked to order, Desserts are delicious but the favorites are The Double Musky Pie, Peanut Butter Pie, Carrot Cake and the Chocolate Ribbon Pecan Pie. Open for dinner; closed on Mondays and they do not take reservations so you may have to wait. The restaurant is a little quirky but so much fun!
