I live in Houston and have traveled to Louisiana several times. I wouldn't call this cajun but it's excellent food none the less, so don't let that discourage you. There is no kids menu and I have a very picky young child who doesn't like seafood. Fortunately, they had a appetizer special of "cajun" meatballs (which didn't taste cajun) which he loved. I tried them as well and they were excellent. We both had salads and the sweet vinaigrette dressing was delicious. I had a salmon special which was excellent and a very large serving. I was able to take home half for lunch the next day. Only two minor disappointments...the bread was a little dry and the cocktail I ordered, while tasty, was weak of alcohol.

Get their famous new york steak. Seriously one of the best steaks I have ever had. The staff was great, the host did an awesome job reducing out quoted 1-hour wait to about a half an hour, and all of the food was fantastic. By far the best meal we had while in Girdwood, and we ate just about everywhere...which is about 4 restaurants:-)

Eating at the Double Musky Inn is an experience is culinary and visual stimulation. From the imaginative and colorful decorations that adorn the walls and windows to the visual beauty of the food, DMI is amazing!

We arrived at 4:40. 10 minutes after they open. We were in line with so many people ahead of us, we didn't know if we would be seated. It allowed us plenty of time to read the news articles on DMI. All it did was whet our appetite for the food. Our table was in a solarium, adorned with everything from Mardi Gras decorations to multicolored fish.

Oh, the menu! Ever want to try everything on a menu with dozens and dozens of choices? Three of us strategized and decided to order multiple appetizers and share many things so we could sample and enjoy more foods. Making those choices were also very difficult, because that still left off dozens of other items we would have loved to sample. My wife had to order separately to accommodate her gluten free needs and ordered the prime rib.

It was so huge that everyone got a share and we still have some to take home! Thick, truly medium rare, well flavored...........wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! She asked for her baked potato to be loaded- dressed with sour cream, cheese and scallions. i am still unable to comprehend how they were able to get such huge portions of all three onto that potato. True glutton/gourmet proportions!!!!

Oh, the sweet potatoes! Light, fluffy, flavorful--delicious! And the Halibut--so incredibly well flavored, so moist. Best restaurant Halibut we sampled in Alaska. The Steak Tips and the gravy they came in were so delicious that once we started them, they became our sole focus till they were gone. It was hard to resist using the remains of the huge rolls we started with before the appetizers arrived to sop up the remaining gravy-so we didn't!

We had mushrooms two ways. Deep fried stuffed Cajun style. Hot, crispy, beer battered. To die for! They were blown away, however, by the mushrooms Rockefeller. Indescribable. Unforgettable. Truly an inspired combination of flavors! After so many delicious foods, this was the true showstopper/grand prize winner of them all.

Until we got to the crab legs. Who offers giant crab legs as an appetizer? These were huge, and arrived split so the meat could be easily harvested. They came with a bowl of butter, which was never used. The flavor of this crab needed nothing to distract from its perfection. So amazingly sweet!

Three had room for dessert, so we finally got to see the dessert tray that had been going past our table all afternoon, but kept so high we couldn't really see it. We know why they try to keep it out of sight. Things are so stunning on that tray that it would tempt diners to order less dinner to be sure they had room for dessert.

Cajun Delight (3 levels of chocolate), Blueberry pie and Creme Brulee were the selections. i sampled my wife's Brulee and have never tasted its equal. The caramelization was stunningly delicious. The custard beneath light and wonderfully flavorful. Combined into the same bite, it was dessert heaven. If it is offered, do not resist the opportunity to enjoy it.

What do i regret? Missed the Cajun shrimp, missed the jambalaya, missed the crawfish, missed the steak. Another diner had the steak and it was placed on top of a river of gravy. Like the prime rib, it too was a huge cut of meat.

Double Musky Inn, with the wonderful atmosphere, gourmet food, great staff and excellent bar, goes into my top half dozen restaurants nationwide.

If You get the chance, get there. Just arrive as close to 4:30 as possible so You don't have to wait for the second seating. It must be sweet agony to sit in the bar waiting for a table with the incredible aromas that fill the entire area.

Great food, eclectic ambiance. Wait staff was very nice & accommodating to two finicky kids. Steaks were tasty and cooked to perfection.

Double Musky Inn is a rustic restaraunt, loaded with all kinds of old stuff. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent. There was a waiting time of almost an hour, but well worth the wait, we were able to sit at the bar and enjoyed some appetizers before dinner. The Scallop Rockafeller was the best!!!
