Lake Louise Lodge

We felt at home in the Lodge. It was affordable and lovely. It overlooked a big lake. We saw three moose on the road to the Lodge. It was truly a great experience. So glad we stayed here. It is
family run. Rooms so quaint and clean, food was very good. We enjoyed the scenery coming in to the lodge and leaving the lodge. When you leave the lodge you can head to Valdez or you can head to St Wrangler Elias, both beautiful places to visit. Valdez is so expensive to stay the night. It was wonderful to find a place we could afford and enjoy. It had a quaint bar and all the walls were filled with wildlife. We stayed in August and that was a good time. I would imagine that the winter would be a little hard to drive to it.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the lake from your private balcony.

The lake is beautiful surrounded by the very beautiful snow-covered Alphebet Mountains. The lodge is large & rustic. The food is good & my only complaint was that when we called in March of 2013 we were given room 3, but about 2 weeks before we were to be there on August 24, 2013, one of the owners called to ask if she could move us to another room, we told her no, that we wanted to stay in 3 since it has the best view of the lake, she said she would figure something out, when we arrived she had moved us to room 4, which we did not like, room 4 has a good view, so that was not the problem, the problem was that we were moved after we had told them no. The owners were not there, & the employee could not tell us why we were moved. The rooms are small & the chairs very uncomfortable. The employee Dan was very friendly.

Room Tip: The room is very small & the chairs uncomfortable & a couple broken down in the seat. The de...

Beautiful, peaceful lodge on a remote, quite lake accessible by road. A must see for folks wanting to experience Alaska and can't afford or don't want to fly to remote places.

Lodge is very comfortable and cozy, nice beds and showers/bathrooms. Food is fantastic and has a full bar that looks like an Alaskan bar should - clean with all kinds of neat Alaskan stuff including furs for purchase.

Great for families or small groups to have enough private space and yet have a place to hang together too.
Owners are great - I've been in the summer and spring on snow machines - great place!

Room Tip: If you can, get the upper room with a lake view.

Nice friendly clean place to stay. Food is excellent, staff very friendly and helpful. Great year round retreat! Highly recommend for a weekend get away. Has restaurant, bar, great rooms and a true Alaskan atmosphere. One of Alaska's best kept secrets well worth the bumpy 17 mile drive down Lake Louse Rd!

Room Tip: All of them are great!

We have stayed for a month in Alaska and this is far and away the best place from Fairbanks to Denali to Soldotna to Homer and beyond! Great find off the beaten path! Great restaurant in the lodge and wonderful helpful friendly people!

Room Tip: #5... The lodge only has 7 rooms!

We had lunch at the Lake Louise Lodge, which is the only restaurant in this area of Alaska to serve food. Our table of three ordered one bowl of chili and two French dip roast beef sandwiches. One sandwich side was ordered with hash-brown potatoes, the other with home fries and coleslaw. The food was freshly prepared and the sandwiches and chili were very good.
This lodge offers a breakfast, lunch and dinner items with a variety of choices, Our food was good and tasted home made.

16 miles off the Glen Highway, you will arrive at the Lake Louise Lodge. It is worth the trip. Lovely lodge, on a beautiful lake. The owners, Yvette and John are welcoming and wonderful. They run this lodge with efficiency and professionalism and make guests feel at home. They will give you great advice on what to see and do in the area. The room we stayed in, #3, was lovely, with a balcony that had two big rocking chairs. Overlooking the lake, we sat and drank our wine, enjoying the peace and beauty of the area. The food they serve in their on site restaurant is home cooked and delicious. Their hot cakes at breakfast were amazing! The eggs were light and fluffy and the bacon was crisp and delicious. Halibut at dinner was so good! Light and fresh! We had the most fun hanging out at the bar and drinking Alaskan beer while hearing about the area from local residents. This is a truly Alaskan experience. You really need to consider taking this diversion off the beaten path to immerse in a cultural experience you will not soon forget. You won't regret your trip to this special place.

Room Tip: Room #3 is really nice. It overlooks the lake and you can sit in the big, comfortable wooden rocking...
