We stayed one night and really liked our room. The owner greeted us and made us feel comfortable. The room had 2 large queen beds, table, fridge, tv, internet access, and bathroom. The room was very roomy and nicely decorated. The bathroom was tastefully decorated. Cereal, toast, home-made english muffins, bananas, coffee were offered and included in our stay. We were allowed to sit anywhere in the main floor. I definately will book here again and in advance as I can see that this place would get booked up.

This is a real bed & breakfast. The owner grew up in this house and converted it to a B&B. as with any 100 yo house it is a work in progress, so things aren't perfect. But the bedrooms are beautiful, beds comfy, and living room spacious and welcoming with a cozy fire. The night we arrived they were making wild cranberry jelly and the place smelled wonderful. If you are looking for a warm informal night this is a good choice, but not inexpensive.

We had a beautiful room, with two Queen beds and a nice clean bathroom. The room also had a small refrigerator and microwave. Phyllis and Joanne were gracious hosts and provided a wonderful self-serve breakfast. Thanks for the delicious smoked salmon! It's the best we ever ate!

Kitchen and garage were dirty, the refrigerator, smelled like old cheese, the garage had so many empty wine "boxes" and beer bottles strewn about that you could barely walk.

The owners are friendly, and somewhat helpful, coffee was excellent.

Parking is almost non existent, and when we were there the sidewalk was barely maintained and extremely icy.

Room was pleasant, and quiet, but nothing special.

Haines has limited accommodations, so as for the Guard House, stay there if you must, move on if you can.

We were picked up from the Marine Highway Ferry and taken on a tour of the town including the lake complete with bears close up. Comfortable roomy bedroom with very comfortable beds . Breakfast was help yourself cereal and toast. Boiling water and tea and coffee available as needed. Good position , nice walk to town . Would recommend as comfortable and relaxed place to stay.

We arrived on a ferry from Skagway at 6pm and were met by Phyllis from the B&B and given a tour around the town. We walked into town and to the supermarket then back to the B&B and were invited to join our hosts for a drink and a chat.
Our room had 2 large beds and was well appointed and comfortable. It is in an historic area of Haines overlooking the water and passing vessels.
In the morning one of our hosts took us to Haines Lake for a photo opportunity and we also saw the salmon counting weir and gates then she drove us to the ferry for our return to Juneau. The ferry terminal is 5 miles out of town.

What a disappointment this place was.
The room we were allocated (room 4) did not live up to the description on the web site. It turned out to be basically like a basement and was quite cold and depressing.
On speaking to the owner she agreed to change us to room 3 which was very light and airy.
Security does not appear to be an issue as none of the rooms we could see have locks on the doors nor was the entry door locked. When this was raised with the owner she said that they had never had a problem (in other words if something happens then they may do something about it, how odd!)
Surely security of the guests and their belongings should be taken as a given.
Breakfast was a do it yourself effort in an extremely untidy and messy kitchen and consisted of basic cereal and if you could be bothered looking for it tea and coffee.
