Everything you would expect in a rustic Alaskan cabin, except it has indoor plumbing. The views are absolutely spectacular. You can see a glacier out your front window. Eagles flew by consistently and we got to see them feeding.
Paradise West is one of the most enchanting and picturesque places in the Last Frontier. Having lived in the state prior to our vacation return, it was important to choose one that would fulfill our family of four adults. This place is very special. Not only was it hand built with Mr. Chuck West, MR ALASKA, the founding father of tourism, but also it is located in a beautiful cove with glacier view near the town of Haines where we once lived.
Having traveled many parts of Alaska, we were pleased that Paradise West had been opened as a vacation site. This cabin offers access to hiking, kayaking, fishing, biking, glacier sight seeing! One can even visit our sister country, CANADA within 45 minutes into British Columbia and the Yukon.
Haines offers a wide variety of character for a small town. Many talented artists choose to live year round; the S.E. State Fair is held here; the Chilkat Center for the Arts has amazing acoustics for entertainment; Ft. Seward holds the charm of an older Army fort history that are privately owned buildings be that homes, restaurants, art buildings, rentals. The native history of Tlingit-Haida is strongly preserved. The largest concentration known in the entire world of bald eagles congregate each winter; it is the Chilkat Valley of Eagles .
Paradise West and Haines will hold a special place in our hearts and we would not hesitate to return. Mr. West had the entire state to choose from to build his home. I think this is a strong statement as to the validity of TRUE ALASKAN experience. Beauty will surely surround you at Paradise West.
