First off, if you plan to visit the Denali National Park area, travel the extra 10 miles north of "Glitter Gulch" to Healy. The area around the park entrance very un-Alaska and thick with the cruise ship travelers and tacky gift shops. My usual Healy stop was sold out so I took a chance here. Glad I did! I pass this place all of the time while traveling the Parks Hwy., and was always kind of curious about it. The train set up at the Denali Park Hotel is unique. The rooms are not in train cars, but the lobby is in an old restored Alaska railroad train car. The actual hotel resembles pre-fabricated living areas set up in boom towns. Basic room with attached bathroom. Check-in was helpful and friendly. The room had nice views of the Alaska range, a fridge and microwave. Comfortable bed and linens. They had hand soap by the sink and a soap dispenser in the shower so bring your own shampoo. Nice quiet area. Not far from great dining options in the Healy area. The girl from Texas that checked us out of our room was very friendly as well. All in all, a decent value in a quiet, clean establishment.
