My husband and I had an amazing stay here in September 2013. The bed was extremely comfortable. We had a whirlpool tub that was perfect after a long day of hiking in Denali National Park. Our own private entrance led right down to the lake and a breathtaking view of Mt. Healy. We would definitely stay here again. Our only complaint was not enough protein in the breakfasts. Hard boiled eggs or some heatable bacon/sausage would have been a nice complement to all the carbs.

Great place to stay in the Denali National park area!

2 night stay at near peak of fall colors, with snowfall that surprised me - but after all its Alaska.
The inn overlooks Otto Lake with a backdrop of snow capped mountains and is breath-taking - especially from the second and third level. September and May offer mid season rates and fewer tourists.
The inn provides a basic continental breakfast - cereal (cold and instant microwave oatmeal), canned juice and fruit plate with muffins wrapped in cellophane, teas and a coffee maker/coffee. No dining facility on the premises. Housekeeping is there daily for cleaning and restocking the breakfast.

September was a good time of year to go and still have some restaurants open for their last few days of the season. Most gift shops were closed. Need to be prepared to fix all meals as of late September. Tourist volume was low as the last cruise ended while we were there (Sept 19-21). Denali National Park was absolutely gorgeous.

Unlike some of the other reviews - we did not find the inn difficult to find. We arrived during daylight hours, road sign clear and also landmarks - blue and yellow train cars at the turnoff from the main highway.

The only negative was the sound between rooms - fortunately our neighbors were quiet after midnight and before 8:00 am - otherwise you can hear conversation level noise. So bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

Room Tip: There are two larger rooms in the inn that seem to have the best views - High Cloud and Alaska Rooms...

We didn't want to stay near the entrance to Denali so we opted to stay in Healy. Although the view was wonderful looking over the lake towards denali, the overall feel of the bed and breakfast was odd as many people have indicated.

Each room has food placed in the refrigerator and on the counter (muffin, apples, oranges, 2 pieces of toast, cereal, milk and coffee). Although the idea of having the food already in the room, it could be presented nicer and less stingy. Instead of two pieces of toast, why not 4? 2 pieces of butter? 3 coffee filters? I am not trying to sound ungrateful however when there is clearly 1 piece of bread per person, it just does not look good.

The bed and the pillows were very comfortable. I do not think I would stay here again, it was just awkward, but I would recommend it for the budget traveler who wants to stay away from the park.

A large room with refrigerator, microwave, and continental breakfast (cereal, juice, muffins, raisin toast, milk, coffee-maker) has a deck (balcony on upper floors) with a picnic table that overlooks a beautiful lake. We would definitely stay there again. But the service was a bit comical. Our TV clicker didn't work right. The office was closed during its still-open hours and there was no answer and no message service when we tried two phone numbers posted to reach staff. We ran into a staffer who tried to help, but said they were out of spare clickers and had no spare batteries. Later I went to an unrented room and traded our clicker for theirs and figured out how to make the TV work in a roundabout way. Several cereal boxes are left in the room, most sugar cereals. Our second day we had only them left and asked for non-sugar cereal, but were told that they were out until their supply was replenished on the weekly shopping trip to Fairbanks the next day. BUT . . . I still recommend the Lakeview. It's big and beautiful and just 11 miles from Denali.

Room Tip: All rooms look out on the lake except one.

We had booked 4 rooms at this place. Our experience was great. It overlooks a lake and it feels to just sit by the lake. Staff is very friendly. They also have a laundry in the basement. I would love to go back to this place!!

Room Tip: Take the room on the first or second floor to get a better view of the lake.

My wife and I stayed in the Blue Moose room at the Denali Lakeview Inn. It's about 15 minutes from the park entrance and was an oasis of calm for us. It was so peaceful to have off our balcony overlooking the lake in the evening or watch the sun rise over it in the morning. Check in was super easy. You simply check the bulletin board for your name and it tells you where your room is and the key is in the door. No interaction with the staff is necessary. It was all very efficient. The room was spacious with a fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, etc. Breakfast was in the refrigerator each day. We got a glimpse of one of the larger rooms, and it was spacious; however we were very happy with our room. The directions given at reservation time make it very easy to find the end...turn left at Otto Lake Road (two train cars are near the highway turnoff) golf course and then restaurant on your right, take the second left (you'll go down the lane passed the ATV touring company ( kind of junky looking) and you're there. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet (it's a corner room), and we were well rested each day. We'll definitely return!

Room Tip: We had the corner room. It was very quiet and comfortable.
