“Got a great deal!”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

We decided to last minute extend our trip, so we walked in and asked what there prices were. (I am always super planned out, this was a first for us) The girl at the front desk was nice, she suggested a room with two double beds. We thought the beds were kind of small for the five of us. So she gave us a suite for the same price she quoted for the doubles. The kids were SO excited when they saw the room. They had their own separate area with there own TV and tons of drawers, which excites them for some reason. The girls got a bed to share and my son got his own. The bathroom was a bathroom, clean. Our grown up room was facing the ocean and we could open our window and hear the waves crashing. We were right on the end so we didn't have too many neighbors to worry about. One of the first things we saw when we looked out the window was a sea otter right off shore. The kids loved the deck, we sat and watched the ferry leave the harbor. They had a local artist on display with a neat story about him, the kids loved looking at all the picture he drew. Sad part, my son found a baby sea otter dead under one of the ferry docks while we were beach combing. I called the office to report it, and the girl at the front desk came down to where we were and called it in so it could be picked up. Only critique I really have is that the remotes for the TV were a little more confusing than I am used to. I thing the only thing holding me back from giving it a 5 is because I loved the room, but I really didn't like the blue it was painted. It seemed a little 'cold' to me. They were going for a nautical theme. It could be me though, I rarely like blue walls.

We stayed overnight 9/20/13 at the Land's Ends Resort in Room 209 with a view of the mountains, water and glacier. The view was fantastic. The room was small, but nice and clean. We had a small balcony where we sat and watched an otter swim around the bay in front of us. We wallked around the beach watching the boats and eagles soar overhead. The staff was nice, especially Rita at the front deck, our favorite waitress Melanie and the housekeepers. We will be back. Thanks for the memories.

We stayed in the hotel part on the bayside...beautiful view. Room is small, but comfortable. Our adult kids stayed in the motor home between the hotel and the townhouses - loved it. Our meal at the restaurant was very good and the service was great. We didn't use the bar but there is a nice deck to also enjoy the view.... next time we might try a townhouse and stay longer.

We recently stayed for four nights at Land's End in Homer. We had a simple room on the bottom floor facing the bay. The view was so incredible. We watched sea otters and fishing boats slide by, backed up by snow tipped mountains.

The room was very comfortable. Most of the staff was extremely helpful. The restaurant is okay.

Room Tip: A room with a view!

Do not stay in the lower level rooms. We stayed in 609, one of the town house like units. You will hear everything, and I mean everything, down to bodily functions. The guests above us partied till 3 am the first night. Smoking, driniking you name it we heard it. The front desk is so far away they have little control over the rooms. The next night, new guest staying there, brought their barking dog. When we complained at 11:30 at night, the woman guest then barked out about 50 f... words for the next hour. The view is nice, but not worth loosing sleep over.

Room Tip: Pick an upper room if you have to stay.

You can't beat the view of the water from the rooms. Not much else to say about this place. First, the check-in was about as unfriendly as one could be. I learned nothing about the hotel or its amenities. Second, the room looks right out of the 1960s, although I am sure it is more modern than that. I guess the hotel hasn't learned yet that people need outlets, outlets, outlets. We have gone around the room searching for them and have ended up switching what we plug into the few outlets that are there. I am sure they were enough before every person traveling had a cell phone, computer, kindle, etc. There are not even enough outlets for the coffee pot, refrigerator, and microwave, and you need to do an under-counter dance to make sure what you need is plugged in. Third, the bed seems as if has not been replaced in 20 years. Lumpy and saggy. Food in the restaurant is fairly good, however. But if there are other places in Homer to stay with the same water views -- which will "knock your socks off" -- I would stay there rather than at the Lands End.

Room Tip: Don't even consider staying here if you cannot get or cannot afford a water view room.

We stayed 6 nights in one of the 1 bedroom condos on the beach (#717) The unit was beautiful, clean and cozy. It had radiant heat, a gas fireplace, a deck with comfy furniture overlooking the bay. The king bed was very comfy and there was a bathroom upstairs and downstairs. You have laundry in your unit which is handy so you don't have to overpack. There was some coffee in the fridge but we had to buy more during our stay. The kitchen was well equipped with cooking utensils and pans. It was very private and quiet.

The young girls who assisted us in the resort were nice, there was only one woman we encountered who stated "what?" when I approached the main desk. Not to warm and fuzzy. How about "good morning, how can I help you?". We ran into the housekeeping staff during our week and they were kind enough to give us some extra TP, trash bags and a few clean towels. Once you check into the unit you are on your own, wash the towels, empty trash, etc.....which we didn't mind at all.

The restaurant had decent food, the waitresses were great!! We also ate at Fat Olives and loved it....we even got pizza from there one night. I suggest stopping at Safeway and picking up breakfast & lunch groceries since eating out in Homer can be a bit pricey! And definitely visit Bearcreek winery and do a tasting!!

We will stay here again when we return to Homer!!!
