“We must have stayed at a different Inn”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

I cannot write about all of the shortcomings of this place. Yes, it has a great view, but overlook the shabby and junkie neighborhood when you arrive. Wasn't sure our car was safe. The guest house with many rooms was just as the painter left it...painted and no decor, no art. Furnishings were not as good as Sam's. Just two inadequate small lamps by the bed with bright overhead lights (no dimmer) with the switch across the room (after we searched for it). There were two burned out bulbs that should have been spotted. Unfortunately, the mattress had not been replaced in years.. We haven't seen a bathroom with linoleum in years...no tile work anywhere. Fixtures like they came from Lowe's. The inn doesn't furnish bar soap or any individual bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and no lotion. Liquid soap at the basin (That's OK), but the tub shampoo/soap dispenser was high on the wall. You had to stand up in the tub; get a handful, sit back down; repeat. Oh yes, the tub facet gizmo to turn on the shower would not work.

The common area was spacious and had a fridge, but no ice maker for a house with 5 or more guest rooms. It did have three tiny plastic ice cub trays that were empty.

We didn't expect luxury, but for over $200 per night, we did expect the comforts of a nice motel. They don't offer any kind of breakfast, but they will sell you cereal and muffins for $1.00 each.

Room Tip: Stay at the Best Western and drive / walk to see a good view

Place was old and the RV park was not well maintained. The overnight fee of $50.00 was very pricey for the condition of the property. Staff was friendly. If we had arrived in Homer while it was still light out we would not have stayed here. The Inn and RV Park are located right on the water and had a nice view but was very disappointed with the overall condition of the RV Park.

Very nice location. Large, comfortable and clean room. We stayed in the seaside building which was like a B&B with access to a large living and kitchen area with great views. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

My wife and I just returned from spending 2 weeks touring Alaska by motorcycle for our 30th anniversary. We spent 1 night at the Driftwood Inn Guest Houses in Unit #28. The guest houses are on the beach and are comprised of several large rooms for sleeping accommodations and a common kitchen living room area. The room was basic, very spacious, comfortable, and was equipped with a Keurig coffee machine and microwave. Our bed was a Murphy bed, but very comfortable. The common areas were well equipped and the views from the living areas and deck were fabulous. While it looked like the house was full, the other guests were never an issue in terms of use of the space. The staff were very helpful getting us checked in and for recommendations for places to see and eat.

Room Tip: We stayed in room #28 which was the only downstairs sleeping area in this lodge. It was right off t...

This place has 3 properties: RV park, lodge ( which probably has bigger rooms, better views). We stayed at the historic (really old) inn, which had very tiny rooms, tinier bathroom, with no leg room. My husband and I stayed here for 3 days, since there weren't many hotels available and we read some excellent reviews here. However I wish they charged less for such basic rooms and amenities.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms, linens were extremely clean too! We had great weather while in Homer, we were busy enjoying all that Homer had to offer; we only used this place to sleep. No air conditioner here. If you are just looking for a place to crash at night with no bells and whistles, this is it!

We will only be in Homer once, so we wanted a room with a view, space to move around and easy access everywhere. Our room, #26 in what seems to be a former house, was superb. Lots of space, a huge walk in closet, great bathroom, good linens, good pillows and a Keurig coffee machine with lots of supplies. It was clean, well-located and early in the morning, we had an eagle on our turret. The room was very comfortable, and the desk people very helpful.

One of the very nicest things was that we also had access to the whole house - a kitchen, dining area and living room, a lovely library with a lot of Alaska resources. The house has a washer and dryer, ironing board and iron. You have to pay for the washer and dryer, but there is a large jar of laundry detergent, which was such a nice convenience. They ask that you lable anything you put in the full sized refrigerator in the kitchen, but you can use the stove, oven, microwave and refrigerator as part of your stay.

The Elks might party on Saturday, but the live band quits at twelve :-)

I would like this place a lot better if they had a shuttle pick up from the ferry :-) I still give them five stars; it was a great stay.

Room Tip: Room 26 is upstairs with a great view. Check their websites; they show you the rooms and the views f...
