This quiet B&B is nestled on a hill and off the beaten path, but not hard to find if you call Michael for directions. The extraordinary view from the deck outside our bedroom is of Kachemak Bay, mountaintops, and glaciers. Michael built the inn himself using locally-sourced materials, and decorated it will local arts and sculptures, and with a few pieces from his travels. His inn is impecably well maintained clean and sustainable. The breakfast kitchen is on the bottom floor, with ground level entrances to both floors and interior stairs between them. A nice place to relax and take in the view. Good pointers on places to go and things to see in Homer.

Room Tip: Ask for a first floor room if stairs aren't easy for you. Call ahead. Don't rely on Google...

Just to echo this reviewer ; Google maps has failed 100 % of the time in helping guests find the Good Karma Inn.....I do have a printable map on my website that's accurate..... If you insist on using Google as your Navigator I can tell you when to disobey their directions if you actually want to find me...

My wife and I spent two nights at Good Karma while touring AK by motorcycle. It was clean, quiet, comfortable with magnificant views (both outside of the surrounding area and inside of the beautiful artwork throughout the house). Michael was very helpful with recomendations for local activities and was a very good host. As with the other B&Bs we stayed in during our AK trip the breakfast part of the B&B was a help yourself kind of set-up, but that suited our travel style better than the more formal sit down breakfasts that you run into at some B&Bs in the lower 48.

Room Tip: View from the second floor rooms is exceptional

3 couples spent 2 nights at this nice bed and breakfast. This is a more traditional B&B as you share your common space with the live in host. He has a wonderful dog and a great collection of home brewed wine! He is also full of stories and advice for Homer.... he hooked us up with great reservations for dinner! There is a great view of Homer and the surrounding mountains. We even saw a moose, up close and personal, in the front lawn! The B&B has a full breakfast layout and Dish TV in every room. Be careful about water consumption.... Homer has water trucked in at high $$.

Room Tip: I suggest "mindfulness" and "wisdom" as they are upstairs and you get your "...

We spent two very enjoyable nights at the Good Karma and recommend it highly. Michael built this house out of huge local timbers and has filled it with with the works of local artists. It is a real treat to browse his collection. This is certainly the most interesting B&B we have seen.

I am very blessed to be living in a community that is recognized as the Arts Center of Alaska...
There is an artist seemingly under every bush here..... Over 90 per cent of my art is locally produced....To me nothing is more emblematic of Alaska than a log lodge overlooking a bay and 4 glaciers which is art filled...

Peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, magnificent views of Kachemak Bay and Grewingk Glacier, gorgeous Scandinavian Scribed Log architecture, decorated with a collection of world-class local and native art, finished with an extraordinary and worldly soul as your host. Michael LeMay is a class act who values your privacy and comfort more than you do. His local knowledge is invaluable and trustworthy. The Good Karma Inn is as much yours as it is his and the experience will captivate you. Five Stars is not enough, so I've taken the liberty to add one more!

Room Tip: Every room is a gem!

For my first taste of Alaska, this was the perfect place to stay! Michael, our host, has created a perfect place to relax, renew, and learn about the culture, as you regroup between the many adventures that await you in the Homer area.
The home's construction is inspiring enough. Michael chose and fell each log, letting them age for three years, while preparing the perfect site, and then constructed the bed and breakfast with future guests in mind. The views from the large, picture windows in all three rooms are breathtaking, the art seen at every turn, is museum quality, and Michael's knowledge of the area, it's activities, coupled with his suggestions of what do do and see, made our stay a special one.
Breakfast every morning was a treat. Michael provided every ingredient needed to make either a light meal, or full breakfast. It was extra-special for us that he joined us at the table, while we cooked and drank coffee, discussing what we had done the night before and helping us to plan our day.
It is apparent that Michael loves Alaska, is happy in Homer, and enjoys sharing his state, town and home with his guests. This was the perfect place to stay as we began our two week Alaskan vacation.

Room Tip: All rooms are similar, and very nice. It is a quiet, secluded B&B, yet only a few minutes from...

This reviewer makes a point that I would like to comment on... Most B & B's are former single family homes that are modified for lodging and sometimes empty nesters will convert 1 or 2 bedrooms to overnight accommodations.....Not so here at the Good Karma Inn...This dwelling was designed as a B & B from the ground up...and so, every room has a 4 Glacier view overlooking Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Mountains...This is what custom building accomplishes.... Within one quarter mile from here is a B & B with 7 rooms none of which has an outdoor view....Oh sure, they enjoy the same view but only if you are standing outside of the building in the elements....Choice is yours...

We spent three nights and had a terrific stay. Michael is a very gracious, interesting and informative host and we appreciated his hospitality and recommendations. The views from the Inn are beautiful; we even saw moose pass by our window. The location is great -- close enough to the main town but with wide open views and easy access to everything.

Room Tip: We stayed one night in the downstairs room and then moved to an upstairs room for two nights. The d...

To those of you wishing to see moose on the property, May, June or early July are your best bets....Momma Moose gives birth in late May early June..... The males move into the upper hills where the browse is better but Momma remains here with the newborns till later July.... We speculate that she does this instinctively knowing that the calves are far safer from the bears around our homes....
