Hotel is average with a good view of the harbour and within walking distance of downtown Juneau. The staff was friendly. Our room was clean. The bed sagged. A place to lay your head but not a place to hang out.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments about your stay. You rated our Value, location and stay positively. We are trying to get over the hurdle of just an average stay. Our staff does make a positive difference and we appreciate your noting the service was good. We will continue to invest in the property to improve the guest experience. We have many repeat business travelers who find us their go to hotel when traveling to Juneau and I find them hanging out in the lobby and lounge frequently. Happy travels!

Prospector Hotel is in very serious need of deep cleaning and renovation. My bad feeling started when we entered the lobby from the garage and observed dirty, saggy furniture and poor paint choices on the walls. The room was spacious but so uninviting and oh so dirty! Caulking around the tub and sink had gray mold spots, the floor had dirt and hair on it, my hairdryer stuck to its base, and to top it off, there was a large urine stain at the base of the toilet. I did not want to walk around barefoot or touch the blankets. The mattress was very hard and the one pillow per person was not sufficient as it did not have enough fill. I can't complain about the view since it the not the fault of the hotel that our view consisted of a parking lot and a mossy roof of a gym next door. But the hotel needs a deep scrubbing and a complete redesign. Will not stay there again and would not recommend.
No Wi-Fi.

Room Tip: Stay at a B&B instead.

We were fine with the outdated decor and the staff was friendly enough. We got a good blind deal - if we'd paid much more we would not have been pleased. Our room was spacious for the 4 of us. The carpet was worn and both it and the upholstered chair were stained. Our room (207) has a motor sound coming from somewhere. I don't mind the white noise but it bothers my husband.

The hotel was nothing special. Had a shower when we got in and the water was only warm, although it was the fine the next morning. Staff could have been friendlier, they seemed inconvenienced when we tried to check in and were unable to offer much in the way of visitor information. View of the water was nice from the room, close to downtown, and price was affordable.

This hotel needs to be upgraded. Although clean and bathrooms are acceptable. the styling is 1970's with need of more electrical outlets needed at the head of the beds. Sorely needed is upgrades to the bathrooms, bedroom areas, halls and lobby. Staff is very nice and resturant I understand is excellent. There are other hotels in the community that are more modern and therefore more comfortable. Could be worst, but also could be much much better.

Room Tip: Ask if they have re-modeled lately.

It was an eleventh hour need due to a cancelled cruise. Thankfully, they'd a room when I rang from the airport upon arrival at JNU. The room was dated and the place could definitely do with some refurbishment. Having said that, all I needed was a place to sleep and shower, and the hotel served that purpose. The museum that's next door is well worth a visit. Downtown Juneau is a twenty minute walk and the airport is a $25 taxi ride away. The hotel also has a restaurant, which I didn't need to visit. Wi-Fi worked near the elevator and the computer in the lobby was handy for printing.

We arrived the evening of August 7th, and the woman at the check in area was awful. Two of our rooms were available, but the third she said there was no reservation. After a while, we finally got a room, but the woman was not nice in any way. Luckily, her replacements at the front desk the next day and evening were very gracious, helpful, and couldn't have been nicer. The Prospector bills its rooms as being bigger than most hotel rooms, and ours was bigger with a king bed, refrigerator, coffee maker, good sized bathroom, 2 walk in closets, sitting area. Our room faced the parking lot, and it was noisy all night long. The people in the room next to us talked until 4 am, and they must have been directly across the wall from where we were trying to sleep. They didn't seem to be that loud, but the walls were that thin. We knocked on the walls a few times, but they continued to talk. We had to get up at 4:30 to take a taxi to the airport, so didn't get any sleep that night. There was no a/c to turn on for some white noise to drown out our neighbors, and there was too much noise in the parking lot to open the windows. So, even though the room was pleasant, our stay was not.

Room Tip: don't get a room by the parking lot. ask for ear plugs.
