“Good walk from the cruise ship docks”
Review of Cope Park

We'd wanted to get out and get some exercise while in Juneau and decided to go check out the Cemetery Trail. We stumbled across this park as we headed back to Downtown. In fact, it was a black bear racing across the street that sort of led us to it. It's not very big, but the weather was dry and there were tons of people and their dogs utilizing the park and water, and the tennis courts were full. It might not be a destination of note, per se, but if you want to walk around Juneau, see some neighborhoods, and come across this park, it's worth checking out. There was also a trail that looked pretty fun, back by the tennis courts. We didn't do it, but apparently it connects to the Mt. Robert's trail. It'd be good exercise for any cruise ship people who want to get some hiking in.

Kind of dark because its down in a ravine but it has a nice trail, tennis courts, a big very cold natural pool for cooling off in the summer, great to hear the rushing water as you stroll along

The setting is quite nice, resting within a bowl, surrounded by trees, with Gold creek flowing by.
Thursday nights in the summer are when Beer ball is held - which is great fun for all.
In the winter you may want to keep your' eyes open to avoid local Drunks who sometimes use the shelters there to Drink.

Hiking very close to downtown Juneau. Waterfalls, crystal ponds, and the most breathable air in America. Trail runs from the top of Mount Roberts all the way through some old mining trails, wooden bridges and walkways down to Cope Park on the Northwest side of the city. Can get into areas that require some steep climbing. My dogs love this trail.
