Owner description: Gold Rush Dog Tours highlights summer cart-mushing in the picturesque Sheep Creek in Juneau, Alaska. Your approach to dog-camp will bring you by the relics of Juneau's famed mining history, transporting you through the rain forest from sea level to our mountain valley home. While in camp, you will meet the Handlers and Mushers of Sheep Creek, as well as their teammates, the famed dogs of Alaska's official state sport. Following proper introductions, dog sled history, and a little mushing 101, you will take to our specially designed trainer carts for a 20-15 minute ride. Be sure to watch for porcupine, eagles, and even the potential black bear along the way. And then, there's cookies. Upon returning, it's time to crab a cookie and hot cup of cocoa prior to departing ways for your next adventure. Gold Rush Sled Dogs is ideal for groups and mushers of all ages. We look forward to seeing you this summer, happy tails!

“Summer Dog Sled Camp”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2013

We booked through our cruise on Celebrity Century. We were supposed to do the Dog Sledding on Mendenhall Glacier via helicopter but it was cancelled due to bad weather, this was our second option and I'm definitely glad it was. It was a fantastic, fun and informative tour. It is great to see how much passion the guides have for what they do and their little fur babies. Matt Failor was our guide and he was awesome. They also had some adorable puppies there, which we got to hold and have our picture taken with. Highly recommend doing this tour, your money goes to a good cause, they couldn't maintain their sled teams without it and it's definitely worth every penny.

“Do This and skip the cruise boat 'suggestions'.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 September 2013

My family of six, 5 years old to 75 years old, had a blast on this tour. We love dogs and so do these guides. Dogs were a lot of fun and the scenery was beautiful. Had mini tour of old gold mining camp on the way up so it was a two for one tour. Kids loved it, grandparents loved it and we all had smiles. Still talking about it. Thanks Jessie and crew. Miss you Snickers!

“Dogs well loved! - Summer Dog Sled Excursion”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2013

I must say as an animal advocate I was worried that I would see dogs that were not treated well and were just a way to make money. I did not see anything of the sort. Our guide Austin knew each dog personally and clearly loved them dearly. The dogs were well taken care and loved. They work hard but boy can you tell them love what they do! This was an authentic excursion and a wonderful experience for children. Austin answered all of our questions and provided so much information about the life of a musher (1 vacation in 3 years!), and the Iditarod which he is planning on doing in a few years. Seeing the puppies after the ride was just a delight. I highly recommend this excursion with children if you are on the Disney Cruise.

“Awesome sled dog camp”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

The sled dog excursion was really interesting, loads of fun and, of course, a great way to see and interact with the dogs and puppies. The guides were very knowledgable and clearly love the dogs, who love them and truly love to run. An authentic and totally enjoyable excursion, even in the rain!
