Be sure to confirm what time the last Juneau Tours bus leaves the Glacier before you depart for it! This bit of useful information we learned while on the way there. Had we known before hand, we would have taken an earlier trip since we only had one hour to actually get to the glacier and fabulous waterfall and then back to the bus! Would rather not have had to be in a hurry.
The Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls are a spectacular sight and should definitely be on your list of things to do in Juneau.

“Mendenhall Glacier”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

Our Driver Ben, was OUTSTANDING not only was he a local to the area but he was a wealth of history as he was a member of the Tlingit tribe, he explained that he was the youngest child of 13 kids and that his family's rich native American history and how their customs were. He told us his father was his teacher and mentor and lived past 100, Ben asked us if the bus load of tourists he took to the Glacier was interested in some Tlingit history how could you not say YES ! Of course you travel this far and to have some as special as Ben to explain who wants to explain his family and tribal traditions . What a bonus. If you are LUCKY as we were to get to go to the Mendenhall Glacier, you have to ask for Ben. To me and my wife that was as exciting to hear the Tlingit history and the Glacier visit to Mendenhall was icing on the KAKE (that is where Ben was from, look it up on the Net. We plan on visiting there. Alaska has a history and tradition that we should all know and hear and if you want to learn Tlingit ask Ben to teach you he is only one of a few hundred native speakers who remain he said and he will teach non natives. That is what travel is about not only the scenery but the people and history.
Ben, on our next visit to Juneau we would like to look you up and talk and hire you as our private guide for the entire day. You made our trip to Juneau special, and the Fish and Chips recommendation place "the hanger" not bad !! Better than the food on the Amsterdam- Holland America ship we took. Believe me I am not being paid for any endorsements, in fact it is extremely rare I would spend my time doing any write up unless it was 110% true.
Ben we only met you that day last week but we love you and thank god you are around to share your knowledge because the youth of today mostly cares less. Plus this week in Juneau their is major tribal festivities and gatherings,Thanks again Ben.

“You have to Visit the Summer Mush Camp in Juneau!”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

This was such a blast! It is the summer camp for training sled dogs for the Adinerod races. You get to experience the ride that is so much fun and you are up close and personal with the dogs, new pups and the owners. Very informative and fun!! Not pricey and is a thrill! Must see and experience!

“City and Glacier and Whale Watch Combo”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

May 28--The excursion was great. The tour booth was very close to where we walked from our cruise ship. We began with the glacier tour. I thought we were going to be able to walk on the glacier, but we couldn't. Realistically, walking on ice wouldn't be a smart thing to do. We were able to take a brisk walk and get very close to the waterfall next to the glacier. Next, we went whale watching. That was wonderful! Elio and Dirk found whales for us and kept us out on the water for 2 hours as promised. I was afraid we might have been too early for whale season, but we saw many whales. Took the city tour afterwards. I would definitely recommend this tour!

“Rough start but great finish”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

I booked the glacier/whale watch tour on-line ahead of our arrival. We had 6 family members traveling together. We met at the proscribed location on time but found a bit of chaos due to a large group arriving at the wrong time. It was clear that the woman at the meeting spot was trying to accommodate us and make sure we had a good experience. After a 25 minute wait we were put on a van and driven to the glacier. Following our visit there we were then transported to the dock for our whale watch trip. This was in the opposite order of what we booked but worked out well for us as we were in a much smaller group. Our driver Eric, our boat captain T and Michelle, the assistant on the boat were all terrific, very informative and a joy to be around. After the rough start, this company exceeded our expectations.
