Okay, I know that going to Alaska means you will be surrounded by meat and fish. Yet sometimes I still want to eat a little more lightly and I haven't eaten red meat in years. So, I asked our guide where she would recommend and she turned us onto the best little place! It looks like a cafe, but has a full menu, fun coffee drinks, plus beer and wine. Steve and I had maybe the best grilled cheese ever, plus a potato salad with big chunks of beets in it that was super delicious and super filling! We went for a hike, then returned for a celebratory beer after because we liked it so much. Friendly staff and great choices for meat eaters too.

“okay coffee, okay food, tight quarters”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

this place is nice but it just feels like everyone is on top of you and in your business. i tried to get together with someone here to meet and talk and it was just too hard to converse and focus with people all around and butting into your conversation.

“Pleasant Surprise”

What a great little restaurant. Nice menu with a good variety and the food was great. It was really crowded, but they took our phone number. We were able to walk around town and they called when a table was ready.

“Not impressed!”
Reviewed 10 June 2014 via mobile

Had lunch. Burger had no flavor and cooked medium rare (not shown in menu) which is a health risk! Kalbi beef sandwich was ok, accompanying Seiracha cream cheese sauce was more cheese than spice. Mac N cheese for kid was ok. Small cup of daily soup cost $8. Overall disappointed!

“Rookery in Juneau”

This was our fifth night in Juneau. Apparently two brothers own it. One does the fishing and the other runs the place. Menu is limited to what they have that evening. Is a local resturant by day and an upscale bistro by night. Three out of four meals were more than very good. The other was sufficient. They comped the one (did not find this out until the bill came.) I increased the gratuity by the amount of the comp, so you know what I thought of the other three! Go back there again? Sure would.
