We spent 2 nights at the Driftwood Lodge in early August. There is free pickup from the airport included in price. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Driftwood is a short walk to downtown - very convenient. They rent bikes which we took advantage of and rode out to Mendenhall Glacier. (nice ride, fairlly flat) On the way back from Skagway they allowed us to keep our luggage in a room for a few hours before we went to the airport. It was fine for the price.

We started our Alaska journey on August 24 at the Driftwood Lodge. We traveled then to Haines and Skagway and back to Juneau and the Driftwood for 2 more nights. What an enjoyable and great time we had. The room was clean and comfortable and just what we needed. The whole staff was wonderful. The shuttle people picking us up were so helpful i with their city info. The desk people were courteous and even more helpful getting us around the city. June was an awesome help and so friendly. It is so nice to meet such great people when you are far away in a strange town. We will only stay here when we hopefully return someday.

This old place has seen better days and could do with a bit of brightening up. Staff friendly and helpful and good location. Pick up service for ferry and flights great. We had 2 separate nights here, the first night we asked for a room change as we were next to the office and people were continually smoking outside our room, it smelt like a smoking lounge! Our room had a dreadful bed hard and lumpy, our second night we were again on the ground floor this time better bed, same dingy dank style room. The people in the room next door smoked, spat! And talked out side our room until about 10 pm. See my review of our other Juneau accommodation.

Room Tip: may be better with a room upstairs

Although convenient to downtown Juneau, the hotel is very noisy--many fights while we were there. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything that goes on in the next rooms. Our room appeared clean; however, the carpet was dirty, the tub and toilet were dirty. The refrigerator had mold in it and the room had a dirty smell to it. Too expensive for the filth, fights, and thin walls.

Room Tip: look for a room closer to the airport, not as convenient, but newer rooms and cleaner rooms.

Typical motel accommodation, very conveniently located to reach downtown Juneau on foot and the airport with the 24 hour complimentary shuttle bus. A 7-11 convenience store (actually open 8 AM to 1 AM) and the best breakfast cafè in Juneau just next door complete the package.
Rooms reasonably comfortable and clean, serviced daily. Very helpful staff, free internet at the 24 hour reception.
Reasonable rates for all the above.

Hotel very close to the downtown tourist Juneau.
Warm and very helpful, good advice for the many tourist activities.
Large room equipped with full kitchen, sound a bit tight if your neighbors are noisy.
Simply furnished but very clean.
No elevator.
Shuttle.
Free parking.

Room Tip: One bedroom Suite

Driftwood Lodge is a very convenient place to stay if you can do without unnecessary luxury. For a very reasonable price you get two nice rooms and a kitchenette where you can have your self-prepared meals, great if you don't want to stuff yourself three times a day and want to cut superfluous expenses. The staff is very responsive and provide you with anything you need, including transportation to the airport or ferry terminal, which is complimentary.
The hotel is very close to a big supermarket (A&P=Alaskan & Proud), handy if you want to make use of the kitchenette as we did.
The Lodge is also conveniently located next to one of the most interesting museums in Alaska, Alaska State Museum, it is at a walking distance of about 2 minutes from the Convention Center, where visitors to Juneau can get all relevant information about what-to-do-and-see and 5 minutes away from downtown and the tram (= is cable car) to Mt. Roberts.
Tip: go visit the cemetery, where the history of Juneau is displayed. There you can see the tombstones of the two most important founding fathers of Juneau, a tombstone of "A Red Man Aged 38 Great Suns. Summoned By The Great Spirit", residents who fell in Vietnam etc.
