Description: The Flats Bistro is owned and operated by local born-and-raised Alaskan couple Luke and Naomi Thibodeau. The menu was designed by two Le Cordon Bleu graduates and features fresh, local ingredients, made in house whenever possible. The Flats takes reservations and also saved half of the tables for walk-ins every night.

This is a new and much needed addition to the Kenai/Soldotna eating experience. It has only been open for two weeks or less and they have it running so smoothly. The food options are limited but excellent. It works for couples---and families. The building is beautiful---staff well trained---and food not only excellent but beautifully presented. It feels small but actually seats a good size group--- I would recommend reservations but it didn't seem like folks had to wait long without reservations. Save room for dessert--- we shared a peanut butter brownie sundae which was yummy. All four of us ordered different dinners and each found ours to be perfect. Will we be returning? Can't wait! Prices were reasonable and in July they plan to also begin being open for lunch.

The Flats Bistro is a new option for fine dining on the Kenai Peninsula. It's slightly off the beaten path, but has a wonderful view across the mouth of the Kenai River towards the mountains across the Cook Inlet. There is a nice wine selection, along with twelve taps pouring only craft beers from breweries in Alaska. The menu is eclectic; standouts include the Mac & Cheese starter, the pork ragu and home-made bratwurst entrees. You can get reservations, but half their tables are reserved for walk-ins. If you are looking for great food in a beautiful location, The a Flats does not disappoint.

Just down the road from where I live and an uncommon location for a dining establishment yet practical. Hoping that this place lives up to its name and location. Should be a great place to frequent once open. Good luck! And the builder is doing a fine job of keeping the area cleaned up while under construction. That goes a long way as to the owners selecting a good contractor. The building went up fast and is very attractive from the road.
