“Better Than Average (3 dots) - But not Very Good (4 dots)”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2014

While the staff was very helpful and the 'free' breakfast in the morning was very filling. The Quality Inn was an 'average' place to stay in Kenai, AK. My issues concerned bathroom size - very cramped. It was awkward to use the tub/shower, keep the floor mat in place and navigate around the toilet. It was just a pain to make that happen with a recently twisted knee. The second concern were the shades/curtains. If you stay in rooms at the back of the Quality Inn, there are parking lot lights that come into the room. No amount of curtain adjustment would make a difference. The next issue is fully understood while being in Alaska - there is no room air conditioning system for cooling. If you leave the window open, you'll get road noise from the Kenai Spur Highway. It will settle down after 9:00 pm, but you'll hear it.

The room was clean and presentable. Nothing was out of place and the Wi-Fi for internet access was acceptable. The TV (using DISH, I think) was acceptable and I was able to get the local stations. Again, the staff was pleasant and helpful. Airport access is about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile away. Once could walk to the airport in good weather.

The staff was very friendly and offered great suggestions for dining, The room rate was even better with a AAA card.

The room was clean, the bathroom a bit small with the shower and toilet separated from the sink outside the bathroom--a plus if two people are in the same room. There were two queen beds, a small fridge, a respectably sized flat-screen tv with cable, and an operable window (first floor room for reference). The operable window was necessary as the Inn does not have A/C, but this wasn't really an issue for the one night in Kenai in the summer. Even with an open window, it was still very quiet and SAFE!

The location is great--just down the street from the airport, walking distance if not carrying a large bag or much luggage. It is centrally located to, and a short distance on foot to many restaurants, bars and fast food options; also a grocery store (Safeway), a back & foot massage relaxation boutique, an urgent care clinic, and a Blockbuster Video!

Room Tip: Hotel Doesn't Have A/C, but this should not be an issue in Alaska.

Before getting up to Kenai the staff help on some of the issues that I had coming up to Alaska fishing for Reds and clamming. The hotel was nice and quiet. Maybe the rooms could have darker-but that was nothing.

We stay here in July. Room clean, large and comfortable bed. Friendly staff. we enjoy there breakfast. Also room was warm but had a fan and open window. Most all motels in Alaska don't have air conditioners.

The staff at the hotel was nice and our room was upgraded. However, we found our room to be waaaay too warm and we couldn't sleep. Others had the same problem. I asked at the front desk how to cool the room down and was told to open the window...and...open the door to the room so air could pass through. I expressed my concern for safety and was told they didn't have a security problem. Well, I did. I have never been told to leave the door to my room open. I found that quite upsetting.

After a long day at work I checked in and then went to my room to find the room had obviously not been cleaned and all the towels had been used. There was even food left out. Front desk would not move me to another room and came up and said sorry they just forgot to pick up the trash but the bed was clean and offered new towels (yeah right). My co workers room smelled so bad of natural gas that after the front desk also said they could not move to another room and only offered a can of febreeze as a solution, he went to another hotel. I should have followed but was exhausted. I will never stay there again.

Dear Eric,

First I would like to thank you for taking the time to give us this feedback. Your feedback is vital for our hotel and it's staff to better itself, and work on our commitment to you and other future guest's satisfaction.

On behalf of our hotel, I would like to apologize for items, that were from a previous guest, being left in the room you were checked into. We are sorry for the inconvenience of not having a room to move you to after that incident. If we had the room to move you into we would of gladly done so, unfortunately we were completely booked that day.

I took this and showed our hotel staff to make sure this does not happen again. We hope you can come back and give us a second chance to show you what we take pride in, to give you the satisfaction you deserve.

Kind Regards

This hotel had a wonderful breakfast, comfortable beds, nice-sized rooms, a great pool and hot tub and a very friendly and attentive staff. We needed extra towels and they happily and quickly brought them to our room. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the pool and hot tub as well as the hot breakfast buffet. We would definitely stay there again.
